What's the deal with the zit looking thing that pops up on top of the bags? Im not getting these bags, just wondering what the logic or purpose is.

From Wakemakers.com

How Eight.3 works
Using the new Ronix 3000 gph pump or Ronix 3700 gph pump is easy. Fill and drain your new Ronix Telescope bags in a fraction of the time that you are used to.

Filling: To fill simply connect the male fitting on the end of the hose to the quick fill port on the top of the bag. Don't worry about spilling any water as there is a built in check valve to eliminate spills even when the bag is over filled.
Draining
To drain the bag start by pulling the top cover away from the telescoping drain tube and pull it out of the bag. Once the tube is above the water line of the sac unzip the entry point and place the pump body into the bag. Zip the drain port around the hose to minimize the risk of water spilling out as the bag is drained.

I have the Eight.3 800lbs bags in my rear lockers without the telescope thingy. Seems like it is designed for bags that are not built in and may just be sitting on the seats, floor etc.

basically the super fast pumps can only get their full capacity when they are submersed INSIDE the bag for emptying (the pump would be over the side obviously for filling). So they accomplish this by having a telescoping portion where you actually plunk the pump body inside the bag itself. Or at least that's my understanding.

If you were going to only ever use the bag as a stand alone, I guess it'd be cool, but I'd rather have my bags plumbed in.

The RONIX 8.3 bags come in a plug and play version and the movable bag for the submersible pumps.

The best part of both style bags is the trapezoid shape that helps with bag rolling around.

The bag with the big red thing on top is for the pump to fit in the bag. The pumps are awesome and so fast!
