Memorial Day Weekend - Are you riding with the crazies out there?

So, are you braving the idiots on the holiday weekend water? Any interesting plans? What's going on?

Braving it! I live on a lake and I enjoy watching all of the tourists come and go, while trying to stay out of their paths of destruction in the mean time. I will probably do some cruising and surfing. Too rough for wakeboarding. I'll probably ride my stand up some as well. Hope everyone has a good time and stays safe!

We will try to ride in the mornings and hang out the rest of the day. Gotta few new toys to check out ...excited!

We won't be out Saturday as I work all night on Friday.

Sunday we will go out around 1 and by 4 the lake starts to clear out and the crazies go home. Up till then we float, party, swim around the boat.

Monday will be just a couple of my buddies that are off but generally our lake is empty Mondays even on holidays.

Weather permitting, we will likely get wet this weekend. If its packed, we will float, listen to music and watch the crazies.

Most of our crazies have to work on Sat. so it's real good till around 3 when it starts getting stupid. It stays that way for 48 more hours after that. If we go at all it is early Sat. and out. Probably not this year as a group of my guys from church volunteered to help a battered wife move out while her hubby is doing jail time. Gonna take a good part of the morning.

Right now because of low water there is limited amount of lake space so all the crazy's will be in one area. Time to go camping away from everyone and keep the little sanity I have left.

Our water temp should be up to 57 or 58, so it might attract more of the hooligans. it's been so nice having the river to myself with the water in the mid to lower 50's. :-)

looks like our air temp won't get above 60 and supposed to rain all weekend. I'm glad I got out in March since May is a complete washout.

Son plays in a basketball tournament Saturday but after that we'll be there. Weather doesn't look good with cool temps and rain all weekend. Probably end up going to our regular hangout for a bit then using the rest of the time to get some stuff done around the house so we don't have to worry about it later in the season when the weather is good.

Weather looks good for me this weekend. Water temp is already at 82 degrees. Air temp forecast is low to mid 80's. It should be a great weekend if it will just hurry up!

My girlfriend and I are heading to Moab with the Jeep for the weekend, then ride the Durango-Silverton train on Tuesday on the way to Golden Colorado for a week and a half of work. I should be getting the boat dewinterized by the end of June. You all have fun.

I can't see Not going on a Holiday, even with the crazies, I just get there earlier, leave later.

For me part of the Holiday is to celebrate all those who gave all to give me some. And some to me is Boating, Grilling, Pouring some out for my homies.

Just doing what is right for all those who can't be here to celebrate the holidays.

Just got back. Launched at 11.30 a (slept in after last night's bbq festivities)

Temp was only 60 but cloudy. Ramp was pretty empty, got a rockstar parking spot. Our normal boating spot wasn't TOO busy. With 56 degree water, I was the only person I saw play in the water. Definite increase in the yacht traffic. Saw a lot of 30 to 40 footers. It was actually reasonably smooth, but the rollers from the periodic big boat made my desire to ski not feasible. So a little bit of surfing, a lot of relaxing. At a little before 3 pm, the launch was again pretty empty and we had a very uneventful time at the ramp.

I can live with that.

Wake boarded on the fox river sat, then boarded and surfed all day on the des plains river, 9:30 - 5:30 Sunday..

I'm pooped, can't move today, glass smooth both days.. :cool:

Brought the new ride home on Thursday night and headed to the lake Friday after work.

Got a few break in hours Friday night and was back in the water around 6:30 am Saturday to finish them off. Left the lake today with just under 20 hrs on the clock.

Water was too rough all weekend to wakeboard and the river is completely trashed from all the rain. I attempted to wake boards 3 times from Friday to Sunday and it was not working out. Ended up doing some surfing and a lot of nothing

Got out twice this weekend. First trip with a drysuit and then trunked it this morning. Since the weather was iffy there weren't many people out so we found good water both trips.

We got out too late on Sat. Barely found a parking spot at the ramps. Saw a 2013 or so OBV getting towed in. Guy said he thinks something crawled up in his exhaust and he over heated (first day out this year). He said he thought his motor was frozen up. Ouch.

4 of the kids braved surfing-- one said no, I didn't get a turn. We headed in before the idiots got somebody killed. One group of tubers lost a kid and kept going for almost 2 miles before they realized she was floating in the middle of the river with no ski or board to hold up. I parked by her till they came back for her. Had an old lady in a pontoon park herself between my fallen surfer and the idiots. Lady knew what she was doing and very cool. Thanked her.

Sat by the neighbors' pool Sunday and ours yesterday. We'll try again next week.

Thank you. It ran great, wave needs to be tweaked a bit but was great out of the box and we had a lot of nice compliments thrown our way. Even had 3 groups chase us down on the lake to take a look. That gunmetal flake made a few of the bass fishermen jealous.

We "rearranged" the ramp barricade to sneak into moss lake sunday and surfed until 2am knowing monday's weather would suck. I didnt get out my lsv but that 230 throws a nasty wake.

it can stop raining now.
