When I plug my iPhone into the USB plug for my factory Sony stereo that is in my LSV, the "skip" song button on the Driver Remote is not working properly. If I push the "skip" button, the song number will change (from song 1 to song 2, for example), but the actual song playing will not change and sometimes it causes the iPhone just to stop playing altogether. Anyone out there had this issue before? I didn't have time to thoroughly check any of the wires, so maybe that is it (although it seems weird that the iPhone would play and would show the title of the song playing on the Driver Remote, but just not skip to the next song, if it was just a loose wire). The only other thing I can think of is that maybe the current iOS on my iPhone is not fully compatible with my stereo. I broke my iPhone 5 a few weeks ago and since I had a few months left on my plan before I am eligible for an upgrade my firm replaced my phone with a "new-to-me" iPhone 5. When they replaced the phone they upgraded the iOS to iOS 8.3. Not sure what iOS I was running before then, but when I went out on my boat on Easter, my old phone was working fine. Any thoughts? Thanks!

So...I looked at the Sony operating manual, which gave me a support site to check out. One of the suggestions was to disconnect the phone from the USB and power it off, then turn the phone back on and reconnect it. I tried turned my phone off and then on a few days ago and when I plugged the phone in yesterday, everything was working fine again. Big sigh of relief.

The Sony interface is definitely weird.

Have you noticed that "random" is ALWAYS the same order?

Now that I mentioned it, you won't be able to un-notice it, lol

There are no wires to check if the remote functions for the most part. The remote is just an extension of the head-unit. Does the skip function work as it should when done right on the head-unit? The phone is interfacing with the head-unit, not the remote, so remote should not work differently then the head-unit. Outside of a failing button in the remote, its sounds more like a conflict between the head-unit and remote.

Ha! I didn't notice it, but you are right, I will probably never be able to un-notice it again.

I never did check the head-unit, but the issue has appeared to have resolved itself for now.

My Sony did the same thing multiple times. Drove me nuts. Found out the remote 1/8 plug was coming out part way from the HU female 1/8 and frigged up the signals, all the buttons did different things as you mentioned. I finally after a few times of re seating the plug , secured it with electrical tape and it has not happened since.

Thanks for the tip. I will definitely check it out if the issue happens again.
