Hey Everyone,

Locally there is a 2010 Ronix Cortez 5.4 for sale at $150. Just wondering if this is a good board to have for my family and friends. I bought an Obrien Alias 5.0 in the fall. This is our first Surfing boat (LSV) and I just want to have a good experience trying it.

My family consist of
Me - 6.1 and 225 lbs
Wife - 5.6 and 130ish
Daughter 1 - 10 years old, 70
Daughter 2 - 6 years old and 40

Most of the boys are about my size or a bit smaller.

Your opinions are always welcome.

Thanks

Richard

I bought a 2011 Cortez the summer of 2013 for $80 or so. Sold it in 2014 for ~$70 before the season started. The board was very hard to surf, and was hard to keep from pearling. For Christmas of 2013, we all got Phase 5 boards. A one size fits all approach isn't the best option for boards.

Edit
Just telling my wife about this, she reminded me that she hurt her self more often on that board than she got up. My advice is to find a board for each of you, or at least 2 for the adults & 1 for the girls. I'm sure Drew will chime in with the same (he's the one that talked sense into me when I was in your shoes)

You can get by with 3 boards. Something smaller for the girls. Get your wife her own board and never look back. You fellas can share a big boy one and will really enjoy it.
