wait, I still have days of back country skiing left. can I post those pics? It may be a warm day, just the water is hard. I will promise to get on the lake regularly now though.

More fun in the sun on the Columbia River. set a new record, and had 11 people on the boat at one point.

Water wasn't great for any boardsports, but I would have been the only one doing it anyway. so we just enjoyed being on the water and making memories with friends.

Showing how pale the PNW people get. Downright scary.

We ate dinner on a floating restaurant in the marina slough. It's pretty awesome to go to a restaurant by boat and park in the restaurant's slips.

All bundled up for the ride back to the dock, with the sun setting behind us...

It's hard to get a good appreciation, but the moon was pretty big as we cruised through the marina/no wake zone. Definitely an evening to remember, and the season's just getting started.

They were asking if my ski pylon would telescope up!

Yeah, I am totally kicking myself for not getting a shot of the 6 hot women (my wife included) together on the sundeck. I even remembered the go pro. Don't know what I was thinking for missing out on that opportunity. I guess we'll have to have to do a repeat sometime soon.

Believe it or not, I bought my Mobius 3 weeks ago without ever putting my foot in a wakeboard binding. I always thought I'd like it, so I took a chance. This was my second time boarding, first time on a decent board. I'm addicted already.

Yeah, I guess that would make sense to not have them on the dock side and be in the way of people getting on/off, or poles that might jump out in front of you.

mnpracing isn't far off. I didn't hit the dock poles, but I always pull up to the dock on the starboard side. With the water level fluctuating a lot, I never know if the rack will be under the dock, at dock level, or above the dock. So, it was just easier to put them both on the port side and not worry about it anymore.

I can finally officially participate in the monthly picture thread. Bwahaha

Was a very pleasant 83 yesterday in the PNW our lake is 100% since its feed with a water source other then rain run off. Water temp showed 70 on the boat but real feel was closer to mid 60s, still had the wake you up in the morning feel when you jumped in but felt real refreshing.

Rolling Out!!

It was only when we got back to the dock when the day took a turn for the bad. I docked the boat and went out to get the truck. The way our launch is, there's an entry road and the parking is behind it. the trailers will angle park facing the road, and a 2nd row of truck/trailers can double park behind them (because the ones in front can pull out forward and the ones in back can back out. My wife parked the truck and was in the 2nd row... When I got out to our truck, there were trucks and trailers on either side of me (as appropriate), and then some jackweed backed his truck and trailer in behind us, triple parking and boxing us completely in. I was mad to say the least. We didn't have the luxury to wait around until the inconsiderate jerk came back as we had a ton of things planned for our day. It was a single axle trailer for what was probably a shorter boat (prob 16' or less) with just 2 bunks. He didn't have a lock on his trailer tongue latch, so I unplugged his trailer, unhooked his safety chains, lowered his tongue jack, and unhitched his trailer. Moving his trailer gave me enough room to back out. So that's exactly what I did and I left the jerk's trailer sitting in front of his truck. Hopefully he gets the message.

After all of that, I put my trailer in the water and go back to the boat (I do the backing and the boat driving on days like then when it's a zoo. I'm not going to put that on my wife). I am driving away from the dock and have one of our friends unclip the nylon webbing holding the bouy balls to the side of the boat. She doesn't realize that if you only hold one end of the webbing that the ball will fall off, and that's exactly what happened--so the bouy ball is floating in the river now. I turn around and pull up to it and my son is in the bow and reaches down enough to grab it, then loses his balance and starts to fall overboard (grabbing the handrail so not completely in the water). I get him back in the boat and manuver around again and get get the bouy ball this time.

Then I put the boat on the trailer. No problems there, and I latch the front winch and safety chain on the bow. When I'm walking back from the bow, I step down and slice open my big toe on the hinge of the fold up playpen seat. It's enough blood that it soaks a bandaid easily and I move on to a paper towel and a roll of electrical tape. That did the job.

For the record, blood cleans up very easily from hydroturf and Vinyl Sauce takes the blood off the white vinyl great!

What a crazy end to a fun day.

That would be the perfect scenario for a platform start and a platform stop.

When I finished my last surf set Saturday, I did a platform stop so I wouldn't have to get wet again. The surprised looks on the passengers faces was awesome.

LOL. come on, a sprinkler valve swap is one of the easiest fixes you'll encounter!

Sprinkler valve, change the packing on the drive shaft, and fix a short in my tower speakers! Haha very time consuming.

Suk it up and git out on the water. Year's a wastin'. Let's go! I'm wasting most weekend days with soccer now. My Dad would have laughed his arse off at me watching games instead of being out on the water. You get you now. Go get you!! Lemme know if I can help.

Went to Active Water Sports Demo Days today. Had a blast. did my first wake set on a Malibu, but then spent the rest of the day on the SE450. What a freaking amazing boat. Got to hang out with one of the Supra Reps too. Hanging out with all those amazing boats sure makes the old XLV seem Meh! LOL. But then when I leave, I realize my boat's good enough for me.

And in case you were wondering, those are what the PTM Edge board racks look like that retail for $2000 each. Wowsers. (yeah, they were cool, but that's one hefty rack pricetag!).

Of course, we were rollin' a $117k boat, so why not, right?

After work run today. Weather was great. water was SMOOTH when we got to our usual spot (15 minutes from dock). Smooth enough that after me and my buddy each had our wakeboard sets, I pulled out the slalom ski. Then a little surf time. My friend bought an ocean surf board for $20 from some guy at a gas station or something. did some fiberglass repair and then repainted it. He tried it tonight behind the boat. Had no problems freeriding it, but it was like surfing in slow motion--very slow in its responsiveness.

No shortage of boards here:

Definitely a beautiful night in the PNW. Low 70's air temp. Water was in the high 50's.

We finally got the boat in the water this weekend and we got a little bit of surf time in today, althought it was a bit too windy to ski. Water temp was 60 with air temp around 70 (but breezy). The best part of the day was the cocktail cruise to cap off a great first day back out on the water this year (despite the shorty wetsuits required to brave the 60 degree water!). Notice the wife's Blackhawks gear to spur our boys on to victory tonight to even up the series with the Ducks!

We got out on Sunday, only the second time this year. Normally we are April on strong but with me working nights this year to train the new guys, its been a lot harder.

Anyhow here is a pic, we had Brad Webb on the lake for the first time, didn't get any pictures of his boat, but you can see him tied to us here.
Also Millerda came out, we all floated for a bit chatting while the wind died down.

About 3pm we started surfing and the water just got better and better all day. by 5pm we had glass. As normal we closed the Lake.

Sunny and temps in the low 80's in Portland! Water temps finally got out of the 50's! 61.5 water! Crazy what we get excited about up here.

And compared to a lot of places, I guess I should be happy that we can even launch. Because it's crazy how many places (even locally) have not enough water, and other places (TX) with too much.

So, we got to see something pretty cool at out little local Vancouver WA boat launch yesterday. It's a Navy Seal Speedboat built by Oregon Iron Works. The thing was pretty impressive to say the least.

Here's an article that talks about them. I knew they were around, but had never seen one in person.
http://foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.com/this-is-the-navy-seals-shadowy-new-multi-mission-stealt-1655361180

You might notice the keel fin on the two giant propshafts. The entire propshaft rotates left and right for steering.

The thing boogied too. We were headed out the same way that they left (downstream on the Columbia) and they were doing 40+ without breaking a sweat. I'm sure they go a LOT faster.

Definitely some of the most unique dockside entertainment we've seen.

Closed out May with 3 days on the boat in a row. I got a nasty cold from my son (courtesy of Alaska Airlines I'm sure), but Sudafed and Rockstars kept me going. LOL. With weekend temps in the 80's we had to take full advantage of the weekend weather.

Friday night was just a chill cruise.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-F4-Q88GRZ_4/VWn90aQNaTI/AAAAAAAAZBU/EWYqUuGXfko/s800/GOPR0555.JPG

Saturday was half party, half surfing (and a little bit of sunburn).
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-MnXEGHZvW7M/VWyGobnE9eI/AAAAAAAAZDA/S4UF-C4doDQ/s800/11059851_10205415495080035_1616440694267459765_n.j pg

Sunday ended up being all party. Got to test linking the WS420's together and that was AWESOME to have both stereos playing the same tunes. Then a couple other boats joined us. I haven't done many raft up's. they're fun for a while, but can also be a cluster. I definitely need to get in the practice of bringing all six of my bouy balls with me. I only had three and it just wasn't enough. and those weaksauce fenders that most people have just don't get it done. So I'll just put the extra 3 I normally don't need in the boat but deflated.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-TXDnPV1omPE/VWyGli6y5YI/AAAAAAAAZDA/8Vhdhf_QATo/s800/11336816_10205422904505266_2912131107112218551_o.j pg

And despite my cold, I'm having a LOT more fun on the XLV wake than I ever did on the Sunsport.

Just an ole Airhead Flag holder I had, wooden dowl rod, zip tied the flag.

Last year I had bolts and rings holding it all together but the bolts would vibrate loose. I plan to make something a little more permanent but this gets the job done lol.
