under the steering wheel

lots of posts from our collective audio experts that state this is the best location in a boat

I only have 10 inch subs. But it seems like I have a decent amount of space still.

Direct radiating is by far, the most ideal configuration. In most tow boats, under the helm seems to be the best spot.

I have 2 12's under the helm and I'm 6' tall with no issues. I do have room under the subs to slide my feet if I get the urge to "feel" the bass.
I do tend to use my seat riser all the time, which makes a difference I guess.

I barely fit one 12" in that space. Don't know how these guys manage to get more in there.

There is a LOT more room in the boats with the new top-deck, and when you talk Mondo and Mojo and you remove the hump its huge in there. I have a 15 firing up and only lost 1/4 of the first cup folder. If I stood the box up and fired it forward I would gain more room.

I cut the hump out and was able to easily fit a 12" in there.

So you've got a grill covering your waffle grill covering your sub. Double protection, huh? Nobody is getting at your sub!

Well, it's in the sunken section, so it's kind of in a different section, so it's fine with me. If it was part of the 'main' flooring, I wouldn't have done that.

Joe - what did you cut with? It looks like a very clean cut. I was able to get a 12" on top of the hump, but it was a PITA. If I had to redo it, I would cut it out.

I used an air grinder with a cutoff wheel. I had to stick a wood shim in the cut as I went along to spread it slightly. That prevented the fiberglass from pinching the wheel. When I was done cutting, I hit the edge with some emery cloth.
