So, I'm possibly looking for a new board this year. It's been a couple of years since I got my TripleX composite skim and I like it but am ready to add a new one to the rack. Funny, there used to be maybe 15 boards to choose from. I ran across this site. It probably doesn't list all of them but WOW!

BTW, thank you Agenda Surf for the link to the above site.

That site was started by one of the Southern Surfest organizers, Scott Tittle. Many of the pics are from our event last year. There are still 3 or 4 spots left for the event this year. You should come up and let the right board find you!
Plus, you will get to hang out with a number of folks from the forum.

I love how you think I am just blowing this thing off. The hardest thing I am doing this year is missing the Southern Surfest. I am the chairman of a charity golf outing that is set for a week after the surfest. If I could skip out the weekend before the event and miss the ticket sales on the biggest weekend of sales we are counting on, I would be there in a minute. I just don't see how I can be absent on the final weekend before our event.
Oh, I'm still trying though. Believe me, I'm trying.

The reviews from this event last year have been extremely helpful.

I keep going back to the fact I like my slippery skim board but loved the Doomswell Neo of Russ's that I rode. I want something different but not a full blown surf style board-- or do I? I'm probably the one person who REALLY needs to go to the surfest this year.

Four spots left.
Catholics are born with guilt. Use that in your favor a guilt-trip some sucker into taking over the ticket sales.

Could you not get a Doomswell and have a rear center fin slot installed, then use a single small fin like a skim dows, when not feeling Skim you could go surf?
yes the Skim is generally thinner but I think it would work as a cross over.
I also have to very highly reccomend Soul Craft, as we are purchasing our 3rd, custom board from Jeff now.
Good possibility I'll get another next summer as well, time for the Reaper to become Wall art because wear and tear destroys him.

I recommend not getting a crossover/hybrid board. Keep your Triple X skim a your skimboard, and then get a solid surf style board. Surf/Skim hybrids are never that good. Thick skimboards dont work great because you need thin rails for skim riding, and you want real surf fins for surf style riding to get the power and drive.

I just picked up 2 boards from triple x that were used at surfest. Picked up a nitro and the composite skim. Got a great deal on them since they were considered used after that weekend. The nitro is fun. Still trying to get the hang of the skim.

I now have an Inland Surfer full carbon swallow. Haven't ridden it yet though. Nice deal from a board member on here.
