Some of you might remember my brake issue last year, well it continues into this year. Now I am replacing the other 3 calipers because after many attempts at bleeding the brakes with my FIL who is a master mechanic and being unsuccessful he directed me to just replace them all. Frozen Pistons and worn out rubber boots. So I am waiting on the replacements now from Pacific Trailers.

This is my April. FML.

I also will be replacing the tires while they're off. Lots of cracks in sidewalls.

On Saturday, I went up and shredded the snow with my wife. Then came home, hitched up the boat and went out on the water with the guys.

She's a bit crazy on the kneeboard. It's an Agent kneeboard I picked up a few years ago. Pretty nice, built like a wakeboard so it cuts great and has great pop. Makes my knees hurt watching her too. Not so bad if you catch the wake coming down though.

We shall see. on my last boat I was running blue on the towers, cabins, along the gunwale steps, and under the transom and I never had problems running alongside various law enforcement boats at night.

Now, If I was FLASHING them, that would end much differently.

Our normal ski area was closed, but Timberline got 8" of new snow, so we started our day on the mountain.

Then came home, had to fight with my buddy's new to him truck to get the trailer lights working with the flat 5, ultimately we bought a flat 5 at walmart and cut the wires to his 7 blade round and wired in a new flat 5 in the walmart parking lot.

But we got on the water and I pulled off another triple board day (snowboard, wakeboard, Wakesurf). So that's always fun.

Brent what was the surf wave like when you had the factory ballasts? Dealers are alway saying you don't have to add more weight and the 2300lbs ballast is lots?

It was ok but I've always been a fan of bigger is better. I mean the boat is only 20' so not a lot of surface area as the bigger boats.

I'm 6'3 315lb and I wasn't able to go ropeless on a LF 5'6 Fish with stock ballast. When I upgraded the ballast the wave was night & day bigger. Had a lot more push & I was getting slack in the rope with ease. I still need a different board for my weight but at least I had slack in the rope which I couldn't get with stock ballast. I looked like an anchor in the water haha

Plus upgrading ballast is easy and not very expensive since it's all PnP.

We headed up to the lake house for a 4 day weekend. Got out a little on Thursday and then weather was crap on Friday, had some rain early Saturday morning but we're able to squeeze a couple sets in after it cleared up before we had to head to a crawfish boil. Sunday was just about perfect, spent about 7-8 hours on the water.

This one. It pivets around the screw that holds the holder to the clamp so I marked it and then got it welded together as one piece. Also had a hole drilled and tapped in the side for a grub screw to lock the flag pole in the holder.

i saw the krypt one, looks decent.. but getting the $39 USD flag holder up to canada would cost $79 CAD... ugh.. not worth it for a flag holder.

You should bring that thing across state lines to the 2015 Texas Moomba/Supra Jam this August.

Its Aug 14-16 at Bethy Creek Resort in Riverside, TX. The place is right on the Trinity river just north of Lake Livingston and has arguably the best riding conditions in the state. Miles and miles of glass.

Trying to keep the front down. Lots of steep climbs around here. The front has 2" wider and 1" forward a arms and the back is plus 6". I have 1" spacers on the rear with deep dish paddles not installed in the pic because I was doing some neighborhood shake down runs. It was very stable. I rode my raptor once on the trip and flipped it right over coming out of tree shots at sandlake with a plus 4" swingarm. Lol.

We made it to the soft water last night. My oldest daughter goes to overseas for summer study abroad so she really wanted to ride before she leaves. Water was quite warm at 60 degrees. We had to pick a couple of people off the beach to have our 3rd, but they didn't drop the camera in the water so that was good.

I went over there last week. Crossing from the main channel into the ride zone over there was 5 to 6 feet. I was NERVOUS. And then even along marine drive in the normal ride area west of the 205 bridge there were spots where it'd drop to 8 or 9 feet deep while we were surfing. And never got over 17.

Forget it. yeah it's closer than the Hayden island slough, but it's just not worth the stress and worry about depth, and the surf wave getting washed out under 10'. You may have experienced deadheads and shanties over by Hayden, but that's really the exception. We've had none of that in as long as I can remember. I'm pretty much done with the shallow airport riding spot.

21976first attempt today. Couldn't go without the rope. Any tips on weighting?
Front full, surf side full, opposite 1/3 full.
Two people in boat, surf tab opposite on first position. Wake plate up.
Seems like no curl to the wave. Help???

750 sacks in the rear will probably help i don't have the surf tabs but I'm thinking if your running 400# stock ballast and only 2 people you need more weight.

There are 3 parts to the equation of going ropeless:

Wave (determined by boat and ballast)
Board (how fast your board is)
Skill (how skilled and experienced you are)

Basically, 2 of those can compensate for the 3rd. if you have all 3, you're golden.

I can pretty much ride anything with fins and go ropeless on it as long as I have a reasonable wave. I remember last year at Demo Days, I was behind a stock Mojo with flow and I was struggling hard to go ropeless on boards that were reasonably quick. Maybe he didn't have it setup optimally, maybe the speed was off. but bottom line, stock ballast made it tough. That said, with the right board I was able to surf ropeless on a Tige 21v with NO ballast other than a person or two.

But yeah, a huge start will be to find out what the biggest bag is that fits in your rear locker, and swap that out asap. hit up wakemakers and get the 10% forum discount and that will help a lot.

When you weigh 100 lbs soaking wet I would imagine that it is easy to go ropeless! Hell you could probably surf boardless! lol

Still losing the ropeless battle. Center full, surf side full, opposite empty, opposite surf tab on any of 3 positions, 1 person in bow on surf side three in back on surf side. Wake plate 3/4 up. Liquid Fish 5'3" The wave is almost hip high and curling. Moving in and out, closer and back to the end of the rope. Just can't find the sweet spot. It's soooo close. We can get forward- I actually hit the boat once, but I can't find a spot where I can just hang out and have slack in the rope. Anyone in central NY wanna come and get a teaching session in, in exchange for some wave time?

What speed you going at? Keep adjusting you feet slightly bringing your weight more towards the nose of the board. (obviously not to the point where you submarine)

Exactly. We have the same board and I found that you have to step forward on the board. If your rear foot is on the black "lip" of the step pad its to far back. I have my rear foot on the foward part of the rear step pad and its a lot easiler to steer. For me anyways

Moombadaze - Looking at your advice for the '15 OB V, would you suggest the same for a '14 LSV? We had some problems dialing in the wave last summer with an empty non-surf side ..... I added the manual Flow system over the winter so I'm looking forward to picking up the boat next weekend and playing with the ballast in conjunction with thew newly-installed Flow.

Do you guys have any suggestions for what seems to work best for a wave with good push (we typically have 5 in the boat and have a 5' 3" LF Fish)?

TheDude

Nailed it. Full surf side, and center, empty non surf side. wake plate up, surf tab on second setting, 8.9 mph. Two In boat. Hip high, clean wave with a good curl.
