I was headed out to southern California for about a week for work and to visit my sister. I contacted Russ and invited myself on his boat last week on Sunday. After he agreed I asked if I could also bring my sister. He agreed to that as well. We met (literally) at his house and I got to meet his wife and precious little girls. He was very kind and accommodating. We rode out to Vail Lake in the middle of the desert. I wish I had more opportunity to take pics of this very unique place that, sadly, looks like is drying up for good with the drought they are experiencing out there.

Anyway, we had a fantastic day on the water. Russ shared his equipment, boards, etc. and was a kind and gracious host. My sister was amazed that such a sweet person could be found on a boat website. I (lied) told her we were all just like that.

My sis got a few pics of us riding and sent them to me. Both Russ and I were busy riding or driving all day so we didn't get much in the way of pics.

Anyway, thank you again my Moomba brother. We had a great time and can't wait for you to visit FL or till I get out your way again.

Those are the stories we like to hear. I'll be heading to Portland in June and was debating on trying to hook up with the PDX guys while in town. Pretty cool community we have with the Moomba family.

I met a good bunch of them when I was up that way last June. Nice hot weather and warm water. What's not to like?

I had a great day with Pat and his sister. Great people and another awesome Moomba maniac. I just wish we had more opportunities to get together.

Just let me know the dates and it's likely I'll be out on the river and am happy to have you onboard the XLV.

Awesome! ... and look at that wave!

He runs that thing really slammed. Has a really cool ghetto gate (for each side but we only ran reg) plus lots of weight in the opposite locker. Tons up front and lead he moves around too. It was an outstanding ride. Was my first time out for the season and I kept wearing out. I'd have to get back in the boat and rest my knees before trying again. I was sore till Tues. but it was well worth it.

So I saw the other thread, is the wave better with the gate or is it just easier without the lean?

I think it is better since I can load more offside weight. It may just be personal preference. Goofy side is much better with the gate.

Good stuff - love to hear these kind of stories!

Sivs - don't be afraid to look us up when you're in this neck of the woods. Kane lived to tell about it last year...
