Thought it might be fun to see what people do for a living here on the forum.
Since we own (or owned) Moombas, it's safe to say most of us are Blue collar working folk, or just a little smarter with our money.
I work for GE at a natural gas fired 240mw dual cycle power plant for the local utility.

I work for Intel in the Chemical Waste Department.

Think of all the chemicals that a Fab uses to make the processor chips, (15 different types), all that chemical waste comes to my area, we either treat it for recycle, or collect it and ship it to a recycle company.

I run, maintain, and repair all the treatment systems. I am a senior lead tech, do new hire training, and get forced to work nights for 2015 to train the new night shift guys. Can't wait to get back to my day shift hours.

Also I work 12.5 hour days but I literally only work 14 days a month, plus with seniority I get more then 6 weeks a year off. Mostly I burn them in the short PNW summers on the boat.

For the last 5 years I decided what products live and die as well as where they live on shelf for the world's largest salty snack maker.

Newty's hypothesis:

"Since we own (or owned) Moombas, it's safe to say most of us are Blue collar working folk, or just a little smarter with our money."

I'd say that given the small sampling of replies, that Moomba owners are indeed educated folk and mostly are "white collar workers"

and we do know how to spend our dollars wisely.

I'm an engineer in a large corporation.

There appear to be several accountants and engineers in this group. My experience is that both have a knack for analyzing and balancing costs, benefits and value and are less likely to be swayed by "bling". If anything, the stereotype in my mind is that the biggest, baddest most expensive boats are owned by more of the "blue collar" workers. It seems to me that the only people that should be able to afford a $100k+ wakeboard boat would be doctors but I haven't met one yet.

I am a Human Resources Analyst for a very large semi conductor company. I specialize in Healthcare, Benefits and Compensation. And yes, I analyze everything when it comes to balancing costs, benefits and value. Walking through the boat show I really was saying to my self why spend 100k+ on something that will do the same thing my boat already does? I know a few CEO's with boats and they aren't crazy with bling, in fact one has a Mondo.

Interesting perspective. I've pictured a stereotype that the $100k + price range of boat is for the "turn-key" guy, that you go out in his garage, and if he actually has a toolbox, the only thing you'll find in it is a check book.

But I've been wrong before.

Once.

I once thought I was wrong, turns out I was mistaken.

There was a huge thread on WW about "what do you do, and what boat/towrig do you have". It quickly turned into a dong-swinging contest with everyone posting up not only their boat, but all their toys and how much of everything was paid off...

I work for a large Risk/HR Consulting/Benefits Outsourcing firm. I manage system implementations for our new clients, specifically for our Health & Welfare benefits outsourcing business.

My company provides a ton of flexibility, so 2 years ago, we moved out to the lake, and I work 100% from home (aside from 4-5 weeks of travel per year.) I get to spend a lot more time with the kids, meet them at the bus stop, and be on the lake by 5:00 any weekday that we want to.

That sounds pretty fantastic. My wife and I both get off work at 4pm, and it's 15 minutes to the launch from home, 5 minutes from work. so it's not too bad. No travel required for my job and 4 to 6 weeks of vacation per year. It works out. But we plan to retire somewhere that has an under 30 minute drive to really good ski resorts but still has boating all summer.

That does sound awesome CSM. My wife works from home (sales) but does have to travel a few times every couple months. There is absolutely NO REASON why I couldn't work from home with my current position 99% of the time except for the old school "at work 8-5" mentality of certain individuals here. Can't teach an old dinosaur new tricks I guess.

Small business owner of www.electro-generalplastics.com a custom vacuum forming company with 2 locations. Hope one day to produce some parts used in a Moomba or other boats. Wife is a MRI tech at the local Children's Hospital. Tales of a small business owner that the corporate types don't always get. We review the cost of every little thing, haven't put a TV on the wall for training as I donlt get the ROI vs o buddy that works for a large insurance carrier went and replaced thousands of them last year, had to use or lose the money.

I work at trying to retire, but the wife and I keep buying big ticket items, like boats, campers, trucks. Now she wants to re-do the kitchen/dining room, and we're putting a roof over the camper, then she wants a deck, a gazebo. Oh, forgot since I got a new truck last year to pull our new camper that we got last year, she'll want a new car soon..

It goes on and on, and I still don't see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Actually I'm tech support for a service provider for Cisco Telephony gear.
