I use this. Holds engine, trans & v-drive without emptying.

does it come with the brass fitting or can you get around that on the engine oil drain?

I tried to use the pigtail hose that comes off the oil pan. even with heating my engine up a little on the "flush pro" running on the garden hose, it was barely a trickle out the hose (which I extended to an oil bucket on the ground).

I used this instead and it worked pretty darned good.

Tryson so you are pumping it out of the dipstick

I have one like that but empty it after the oil and then do the v-drive and tranny. Works great and no mess. Also lets you measure what you take out so you can refill to the mark in one shot.

I use a Jabsco Porta-Quick Oil Changer and it will suck the oil hot or cold. If you warm your engine first, feel the oil filter instead and see if it is warm instead of going by the water temp gauge.

I unscrew the cap from the oil pan drain hose, insert the vac pump tube and give it a few pumps. I marked the tube so I know it is at the oil pan.

I use the mityvac also...make sure you get the engine nice and hot....dont just run it off the hose in the driveway.
Run it up and down the water to get it hot. If it's only warm it's a pain.
If it's real hot than you can pump 5qts in 10-15 minutes.
I feed the remote oil drain through the stern plug hole and do all the pumping outside the boat.
be careful changing the filter :
a) make sure the o-ring is not stuck inside the filter housing when you remove.
b) put a plastic bag around the filter area while you are taking it off so that if you drop it or oil leaks out it wont be a mess.

That looks like a pretty awesome option. If I hadn't already bought the topsider pump I'd probably use that!

Yes, I suck it out the dipstick hole. Worked well.

It will remove five quarts in about one minute.

Damn, that's awesome. It wouldn't be that hard to build one of those myself. Just get the pump, hose, bucket, leads... I could use it on all my vehicles. Of course, it'd be hard to build one for less than $150 and I think I've seen some examples of these type of pump systems for $150 or less (albeit them being probably slower than yours)

I use the PELA6000 oil extractor. it takes a while to get the oil out but that gives me time to finish my beer and change out the filter ect. I removed the brass cap from the hose that runs to the bottom of the oil pan and insert the smaller PELA hose inside this hose and suck it out from there.

Lots of great options, thanks for the feedback.
