View Full Version : Wakeplate fix is completed

I was notified by my dealer today that the Wakeplate fix is done and the new program has fixed the fault in the pdm. I get the new program installed tomorrow or wed. and will try it out this weekend!
I would like to give 13 Moomba LSV, Nick a big thank you for all his efforts and lack of a boat for the last 6 months while it was the test boat at Skiers Choice!! He missed doing any upgrades during this time while a fix was being found - Nick, Thank You!!! We owe you one!!! I will buy you a beer at Surfest!!!!! I hope everyone gives Nick a thank you!!!!!

I have a 2013 LSV going to the dealer next week to repair the wake plate issue. What did they do to repair yours?

They will change the programming in the PDM module, reprogram the module - It had a fault which caused the erratic behavior

I've laid low regarding this topic for quite some time as SC has had my boat since the Fall, and didn't want to relay any information until the fix was completed and I had my boat back to try it out for myself. Sounds like a few of you guys will get to see it for yourself before me so I'm excited for everyone affected. As someone who relies on instruments for a living, the gauge issue drove me more insane than most.

My dealer has been fantastic during this process going back to the initial discovery and even pulled the boat all the way to Maryville on my behalf last fall. I can't give enough praise for Ron at Aqua Marine in Anderson, IN. I also want to thank those from SC who read the board as I've been a tough customer during this process. All parties involved would be the first to tell you that they never thought it would have taken as long as it did.

As far as the issue goes, Kevin pretty much covered it. It wasn't an "in house" issue for SC it was a vendor called E-controls that had a software coding issue of some sort. They will upload the new software to the Digital Cruise Pro I believe.

Excited to get the boat back as I've had grocery carts at exile and wakemakers ready to be checked out for quite some time now. Especially looking forward to Surfest.

Any idea if this will be a fix that all dealers are aware of and able to tackle? I'd hate to take the boat in assuming they know only to have them try other fixes that haven't worked for you guys. Not sure if info like this is passed around to all dealers or not.

I would call your dealer and ask if they know a fix was found.. My dealer called me to let me know.

I emailed AWS to ask them to look into this and upload it to mine. I have had this issue since new. They have replaced almost evey part of the system trying to fix it.

I'll be more then happy to thank him after I test it and its fixed lol.

At this point in life, I never believed its fixed until I see real world results. Like I said they replaced everything in my boat except the level to control the plate. I even got a new Dash computer at the end of the season last year.

I can relate, I got the same fixes as well that didn't work... I will have the new program installed tomorrow and I am heading for the lake to test tomorrow as well...

so I have had the same issue's too, but never took the boat in for any repairs, I'm pretty sure im out of warranty so what im wondering what the fix will cost

Known issues and software upgrades are generally done even out of warranty.

Can't hurt to ask.

Had the software fix installed today for the wake plate issue.. The dealer wanted to go to the lake with me to make sure it was fixed... I can tell everyone - IT IS FIXED..... Rode for quite a while with ballast filled, tried different plate settings. No issues... Yea!!!!

Sent an email off to the dealer this morning. They replaced the Digital Cruise prior to winterization but it sounds like the real fix was just made so my boat will likely have the same issues if they don't do anything further. I'm glad to hear SC and the vendor could find a fix for us! Thanks for donating your boat to the cause!

uniwarking - I had the digital cruise replaced last year and it did not fix the issue - along with multiple pdms and reprograming of the pdm. This last reprograming with the software fix was the cure...

I have a call into the dealer, they are looking into it. Hopefully they can get things fixed up when I drop it off for spring prep in a couple weeks. Still thinking about the Flow too :P

Great news. Mine is en route to to Indiana as we speak. Will pick it up next week when I'm back in town. Just need the weather to cooperate now...

If you are one having this issue I would call your dealer, talk to them about it. I also would expect SC to allow this as a warranty upgrade since it has been a known issue since 13. If you have any issues with your dealer then possibly Email SC and talk to them about it.

Noob question - Is this is a known issue that's limited to 2013 models only? I've got a '14 LSV and I'm wondering if I should call my dealer and have them look into this while they already have my boat in winter storage .... can you guys shed any light on wheter or not this could also affect 2014's?

I think it did effect the 14s, just recently the update came out, so your boat wouldn't have it. Unless you just bought it possibly.

I personally wouldn't worry unless you are having wake plate issues. The issue is the plate will go down <in my case> randomly while you are at speed, slowing down, turning around.

I believe it was just the 2013's. The 2014's got the new dash and computer.

I'm curious exactly what other folks are experiencing. My wake plate was automatically going down while underway, most of the time the gauge was moving as well so I could actually feel the wave change while surfing and visually see the gauge had changed position. Sometimes, the gauge wouldn't change but the plate clearly had. I contacted my dealer about this and was told this fix was for the gauge moving but the plate not moving... But I've never heard anyone comment on those symptoms.

If this is truly a software coding issue, I can't see why this wouldn't be experienced at some frequency with everyone that has current software.

I've had multiple parts changed already, including a digital cruise last fall during winterization... I really don't want to be dealing with this again during the season if it can be fixed in the next couple weeks! Thanks!

There is a fix. New software update that corrected the problem. Contact your dealer.

Unilarking- the software upgrade will fix your issue! Get your dealer to download it and install. No more issues after that... I have had our boat out four times since fix was installed with NO issues yet...

How wide spread is this issue on 2013's? I'm in the process of purchasing a "new" 2013 holdover from a dealer and they are unaware of the issue. Is there a way to confirm if the appropriate version of the software has been downloaded? Dealer's story is these issues were likely limited to early model 2013's and resolved at the factor prior to manufacture of other 2013's.

Even better, is there someone at SC I could contact?

Chris - it is my understanding it is all the 2013s. The issue was a fault in the pdm programming. Easy fix, new download and you will not have issues... I would tell the dealer you want the new fix updated to the pdm....

So i take my boat to local dealer for the wake plate fix. I thought this would be fairly easy in and out. NOT SO MUCH! first they couldn't find the download so they called sc. Got the down load but it won't take in the boat now WTF. they have had it since last thursday on with tech support and still nothing! supposedly they have the right cable too. anybody have this prob yet?

Nope they downloaded it and got it installed same day.

If they are having a lot of problems have them call Active Water Sports and talk to the service manager Jeremy Spriggs. He has done several and mine was the first.

Took a while for my guys to get it done too, but that was in large part to them having to order the cord required to connect the computer.

My dealer had the same problem with having to order the new cord but should have it completed by this weekend.

IF anyone has any questions about the program it might be best to discuss with the dealer that actually did the first successful download - Atlanta Marine. Not only did they install the download with out a hitch but kept up the discussion with SC about a fix same as Aqua Marine. And of course I will not leave out Nick who's boat stayed at SC for many many months as the test boat... Thanks again Nick!!! I thought others where going to thank you after the install was completed and worked on their boat. lol

Great news.

I haven't had a fight yet with my fiancee over what the wakeplate position and/or where the gauge is at. Apparently my tone is all wrong.

Confirmed again Sunday, surfed for several hours and not once did I have to reset the plate.
