I changed my oil and filter this weekend, but when I installed the new oil filter I didn't fill it with oil half way before installing it. I then ran my engine for about a half hour. Everything seemed fine.

Is there any issues with not filling the oil filter with oil before installing it?

Thanks.

PS. I have a 2008 LSV

Should be fine, be sure to check you oil level occasionally.

I've never filled it up on any oil change on any vehicle and never had any issues. Once you crank the engine it probably fills in a couple seconds.

Its always a warm and fuzzy feeling to see instant oil pressure when you fire the engine up.

no problem, I've never done that on any car or boat.

I always fill mine. Old habits die hard. Old guy once told me the oil pump sends oil to the filter first, then everywhere else. So, naturally, if you have a full filter you get oil everywhere else faster. On a hot car, not that big a deal. But a boat that has been sitting for a few months--maybe a good idea to fill your filter.
