First weekend surfing with the bimini on and I already have a tear right in the middle where the seems meet. This bimini is already a joke and offers no shade whatsoever, but the stupid design where the ass end flares up is just stupid.

Anybody else have an issue with the OZ HD Bimini?

That's a bummer Brett. Issues with a new boat suck and that sounds like a design flaw.
I'd take it back to dealer and have them work out a solution. Possibly credit for that option so you can go get a custom 1 made?

Why is everyone hooking their surf rope to the tower??? We use the rear pylon for surfing, and it works great. We only use the tower for wakeboarding.

Or tie it to the side of the tower you are surfing on. MMandley had a picture of his in a previous thread works great and allows the surfer to get up outside of the wave.

I think it's easily expected to be able to tie the rope to any factory designated rope spot and not have issues.

I'm with Viking, on a brand new boat, this is the dealer's problem. Find out what their solution is.

The reason you attach to the top like wake boarding is because it's easier to get up.

One I get me boat back in another week I can post pics how mine is done. Another nice aspect of my version is it doesn't get in the way as much while surfing with your crew.

I never mounted mine from the top because it rubs my bimini when at idle and the initial pull.

We started out on tower but now we just use rear pylon and toss rope to opp. side of wake. Then when surfer falls boat just does turn around and surfer paddles to rope. People inside boat don't have to move and rope isn't in their way all the time. Works great.

Yep , I can vouch for it. for beginners from the top of the tower or the side of the tower, for experienced riders ski pylon or even rear eye hook

Even wake boarding the rope rubs the bimini when you take off.

it's a tow pylon for god's sakes..........and you have a surf boat. If you can't use the tower pylon for surfing and wakeboarding because it rubs it's a design flaw and should be remedied.

If you want to hook your rope to the rear pylon, rear eye hook, side of the tower, steering wheel, passenger, whatever... knock yourself out. But that doesn't discount the fact that an owner of a new boat can't use the tower pylon for what it was designed for because of a terrible bimini design! I don't blame you for being a bit angry Brett.

Thanks man, my phone was dead when I noticed the tear when I was taking down the bimini at the storage unit so I didn't get to snap a picture. So I'll have to wait till I go back to get a picture for warranty purposes. I just hope they credit for a new bimini to be made because there's no way I can see without changing the Bimini frame to make it work.

I agree completely. The question is, was the bimini designed to be deployed and have the rope attched.

Also experience tells me SC will warranty the cover. But not credit you.

I day this because I tried that with my boat covers. Ended up my dealer did the credit by ordering another boat without and added mine.
Then I bought my new cover through dealer so they could show charges for thier books.

I'm not disagreeing with your concerns, just being realistic from my experiences.

I always tie my surf rope to the tower tow point then run my rope through the hole in the Bimini and have under the Bimini when surfing. I run it on top for wakeboarding of course.

So this trip I ran the rope from the ski pylon, which SUCKED. So I ran it under the bimini which was better.
Still though, you should be able to use the tower like its suppose to be used. You should be able to use the bimini and surf from the tower at the same time. I mean that's what it's designed for.

Here's a close up of my bimini. Why does the ass end go up like that? Shouldn't it slope down or be flat? Does anyone else's go up like that?

The rear of my Bimini does not look like yours, it is sloped downwards

Yeah that is kind of funny looking. Almost like an umbrella that flipped open the wrong way. Can you put some pressure on it and get it to flop over to angle down?

you need to tighten the straps.

grab ahold of the back and pull down, gently, while someone helps tighten up the straps. If you're on your own, tighten the straps a bit, hook, test and keep going until tight.

They changed the bimini setup in '14 for the mojo. I liked the tubes in the back versus the straps, it did not duck bill up. I tighten the straps a little more each time to stretch it out. I have never been able to velcro the sides like you are supposed to. I have even thought about cutting about .25" of the tubes in the front that insert to the tower to get the bill down. For surfing we go under the bimini and we watch the rope when boarding.
