I was hoping someone could tell me the best wake surf rope to use starting out. I see ropes anywhere from 9 feet in length to 25 feet in length. I do not understand why anyone would ever need a wake surf rope 25 feet in length. I've also seen regular handles, and some handles that are more of just a T. Looks like some of the handles aren't big enough for two hands (side by side). What does everyone like/use?

Here are a couple of good threads on this topic:

Longer is easier to get around the wave when starting up and/or starting from the other side. With a really short rope you can get hit with the prop wash if you're behind the boat and you don't have much room to move around on startup..

Get one with removable sections so you can set the length for your boat/riders, we use one with a small handle, easier on the hands but make sure people don't put and arm threw it or wrap the excess around their hands..

I like the small triangle handle with a thicker portion leading up to it.

I do NOT like the t-handle or the ones that are just rope with no handle. I find that those versions require more hand strength when you're fatigued and that's not helpful. I especially don't like the heavy metal t-handles. those things can be like a weapon when you're tossing them into the boat or when you're tossing them from the boat to a rider.

Plus the triangle ones are fun to toss like a horseshoe and see if you can get a 'ringer' on the ski pylon!!!

Something like this is my preference for learning, because it has the small triangle AND the thicker section leading up to it. The thicker section is nice because it allows you to pull yourself into position in the pocket when you're still trying to figure out where the pocket is and manage your acceleration and deceleration.

Something like this is honestly fine for me now as I only use the rope to get up and toss it back into the boat within seconds. so now that I'm experienced, the lighter the better.

We have tried all 3 stayles and landed with the Mini Handle like Trayson used above.
For us it helps newer people who aren't as strong in their grip to hold on during pulls. Also for those who wake board and later in the day their hands are tired. You can double our hands up to hold on.

Also for length we prefer the 25 Ft, the one we use, and Trayson uses has link you can remove to adjust the rope to your wave type.

Depending if you like to have the rope on the Ski Pylon, the Tower Pylon or the Tower its self <as we do it> you need different lengths.

Here you can see how we actually mount ours to the Tower side arm. We do this mainly because it allows the rider to be pulled up outside the wave, our wave is literally so Large you don't want to be pulled up behind it and have to fight to get over the top of it. Plus its a Long ways down from the top.

This is my bro Steve way back in the wave and why you want a long rope.

Can suggest which one NOT to get- Proline T handle. Got it for Father's Day so of course held onto it. But more than happy to let the kids have it to pull each other down the street on the skateboard with bikes whenever they ask. Drag it on the pavement, jam it up in the sprocket...

We gave up on a longer rope to toss at a drifting rider to "save" them. 9/10 times it was a bad throw or too late anyway.

If you're inclined, there's always the option to take a few old ropes and handle you might have laying around and braid your own. Make it whatever length you want. I did mine so that at full length you are basically right in the sweet spot of the pocket or real close. No slack to worry about. Just toss it when you're ready.
