I have a gravity 3 factory ballast installation.

We primarily wakeboard, but want to add some surfing this summer. I do not want to make extensive upgrades to plumbing or pumps. And I am not sure how long we will have this boat, and I always seem to be on a tight budget due to all of the other family activities we spend on.

I would like to add more weight in the rear lockers but I am not 100% sure what will fit in the rear lockers. The more I look the more different bags I see. The only thing we store back there underway are the extra ropes. So lots of room. What ballast bags will fit? I see there is an 1100 lb fly high, has anyone stuffed one of those in there? I really just want to hook up the factory fill and drain hoses and that it. I am OK with the fill / empty time and I am sure we will all be surfing on the same side so time is not an issue.

I have two of these, one in each locker http://www.wakemakers.com/ronix-eight-3-plug-nplay-ctn-800.html
Besides the changing of bag connectors, these are truly plug and play. Have been very happy with the surf wake with this setup.

Go with the Wakemakers 1100, Fly High 1100, or Sumo 900. All of these work very well in the XLV.

We have a 2005 xlv and use the wakemaker 1100s. They work well.

You can get away with the 750 but 1100 are preferable

I got my list of components now. I will have to extend one of the 3/4" hoses. Apparently I have to cement the mating fittings on to the new bag, did not realize that.

Now I just have to expropriate the funds in a way that flies below the radar.

I wonder if I can use the 400lb bags elsewhere, anyone done that?

You can you the same fittings, no cement needed, you can use the fitting from the 400 bags, you might have to get them out using this video.

I wouldn't cement the fittings. It's something the boat manufacturers used to do, but I've never cemented fittings on any new bag. If anything, use Teflon tape. But don't create something permanent for yourself.
