Im new to the moomba world, I'm aware of all the ballast threads going, but don't really want to read everyone of them.
I just bought an 07 lsv with stock 1200lb ballast, I'm interested in adding some weight to make the wakeboard wake better and wake surf. Can i throw some 1100 bags in the rear lockers and call it a day or will i need to add more weight in the ski locker too? Will i need to replace pumps or add when doing so?
all info is very appreciated. if there is a thread already made and you have the link, to save the trouble of rehashing - can i have the link?
thanks,
Chris

You can plug and play with bigger bags . . . BUT . . . your fill times will be crazy long. You can use a few bodies up front to help because these boats definitely benefit from some nose weight. There are tons of threads but if you don't have time to search I understand.

Best to check with Brain Rinse. He had the slickest boat on here and really knows his stuff.

Go with lead. Way more weight for way less space. It's the best kept secret out there.

1100s on factory pump with sprinkler valve set up and your looking at 15-18 minute fill times
If you ever upgraded the pumps to impeller style your looking at 1 minute per 1K to fill.
We use lead, only 400 lbs, the only thing you have to keep in mind is the weight is always there, you have to be carefull about not over doing it, due to the trailer.

What did you do, steal some pumps off an oil rig?

They weren't being used according to some due to the low gas prices.
Guess that was an extra 0 lol. Its 100 per minute.

Well, I found the shutoff valves to go with your 1K system at my local plumbing store:

you can simply add bigger bags (750 or 1100) to the rear lockers but as stated previously it will take longer to fill. It's not a big deal but the bigger you go the more time it takes to fill. The 750s fit great. The 1100s fit but are a little big for the locker. You may not be able to fill them completely but you can get them pretty close. If you go with 1100s you may also need to put some metal bracing on the fold down door panel between the locker and the engine. You can not get a bigger bag in the ski locker that I know of so you are stuck with that one. Getting more weight in the bow is a great thing if you can. I went to 750s in my rear lockers and used one of the 400s out of the lockers to just lay in the front bow and made a portable Tsunami pump to fill and drain it. You can also get an integrated bow sac that is "V" shaped and goes under the seats of the bow which is ideal, but then you really have to change all the plumbing. If you are looking to just get started on surfing and don't want to spend a ton of money just upgrade to bigger sacs in the locker and enjoy your first season with the boat. From there if you really want to do things up right then you can look at changing out the whole system for the reversible pumps. That is what I am probably going to do in the next month or so. good luck and enjoy the boat.

I also had the 1200lbs factory, now I have around 3000. I just upgraded to 1100 in the back and replaced the 750s. 750 make a good wakeboard wave, but I also installed an IBS. If your looking to surf, 1100 are probably the way to go, if just wakeboard I'd look at the 750. Either way you need weight in the bow to keep the wake from getting washed out.
