Hey guys,
I am new owner of a '14 Mondo. My wife and I would like to surf more and I need to know what changes I should make to the boat to have the best surf wake? We have the manual flow with the stock ballast bags and we surf goofy. Any suggestions and pictures are welcomed. I saw some old threads but didn't know if any one has dialed their surf wake in and what changes I should make.
Thanks

Hey Matt, i have the exact same boat... here is what i run.
750 on goofy side 100% full
750 on reg side 50-75% full
500 under floor 100% full
650 IBS nose bag 100% full
Suggestions -- I would look at the other nose bags that wakemakers has available, when i fill my 650 nose bag full it bunches right at the very front around the nose, but the legs are completely full and there is more room. I would get the 750 or even the 900 and fill it till the seats pop...
Also i would look at a bigger bag than the 750 for the goofy side and set your timers to have it fill until the locker door starts to pop.
Please Note -- i usually run with a small crew (2-3 people) so i like it loaded down, if you have a large family or run with lots off people then the 750s in the rear and 650 in the nose and throw an extra person or 2 on the surf side
I run with the flow all the way down and about 9.7 mph
It will throw a good surf wake just needs a little tweaking to find what works best for you...
good luck!!

saskyrider's setup is a pretty good starting point. Like he said though, we typically recommend the 750 bow bag option to maximize weight up front, and you'll want to run at least a 900 pound bag in the rear locker. The Mondo is on our short list for our new custom bags, so we should be able to significantly increase capacity at the rear of the boat over an off-the-shelf bag.
If that's something you're interested in shoot us an email so we can gauge interest and know what the priority is.
A lot of this will also depend on which board you're riding. If you're on an entry level board, you're going to need more ballast, if you're riding a higher end expoxy-fiberglass board that has a faster design, you can get by with a lot less weight.

Any details available on the proposed dimensions of these new bags?

The dimensions of the bag that was recommended is a 900lb Straight line bag 50" x 22" x 22" with a cost of $181.99 per bag.
I am thinking about it, but first I have to break my boat in.

Right. Just wondering if WM has a new custom bag/off-the-shelf coming that is different dimensions.

Great looking boat! 650 ibs is probably fine then max out bag size in rear lockers. Can you get anything under the port or starboard seats (right in front of the rear compartments)?

Thanks guys.
There is room under those seats. I will have to measure when I get the boat out of storage.

That might be the first yellow boat I've ever seen that I like (other than berg's 2.0).

Unfortunately I do not have any additional details at this point in time, other than to say it will follow the rest of our custom bags, which means it will be made specifically for that generation Mondo, and will completely fill all of the available space in the rear locker.

The staff at Skiers Marine is great. It has been a great experience and my salesman Greg has been great. Will buy from them again

I crossed mine when I added my custom locker bags from wakemakers. I had them made to fit without having to modify anything and no pinch points and I get a true 1000# if not a little more. They fill the locker and go all the way under the seats. I also did a 750 up front. I have only had 1 opportunity to try them out and without really needing a dialing I was surfing goofy immediately. I do not have the flow, but road listed at 9.9 and trim tab all the way up.

Are you using that 3D laser scanning. Curious if it's a similar bag I just had made for my Mondo.

Ha...wrong thread....no doubt everyone has read both so you know where I meant this to go.

Hey Matt-
I don't have specs on the bag, although I heard some talk of 875 pounds of loaded capacity in just the rear locker. Not sure how it will ultimately stack up compared to the bag you ordered.

Does anyone have any experience with the fit/compatibility of the WM 750# PiggyBack Front Factory Ballast Upgrade for a 2014 Mondo bow? I was also looking at the 750# or 900# upgrade for the rear lockers.
Any suggestions or help would be very appreciated.

I have the 750 and it fits perfect. I pulled it up into the nose a bit more to avoid the cup holders. It was a breeze to install.

I went with custom sacs in the lockers. I took advantage of the cyber Monday sale so they weren't much more than the stock 1100's which you couldn't fill all the way anyway. I can give you the dimensions I used...basically it fills the locker and slopes down and underneath the seats behind the driver and up the port side. I still have room on the port side for my tool box or another battery in the future. I figure I get a true 1000-1100 pounds with no pinch points maybe more with stretch.
I'm taking her out next Sunday and can take some pics of the wave if you want.

SurfSon,
Finally got my computer fixed....Pic of the goofy side. No regulars that day. This is with 750 IBS, Center tank, 1000 custom in the rear. My wife driving and my 3 toddler kids sleeping around the boat. Wake plate all the way up and going 9.5. I did place a 450 on the floor later in the day, but it didn't change much. I plan on trying a 750 on the floor next time...mainly just when its the family in the boat....with extra surfers shouldn't be needed. I may also look to add 100-200 pounds of lead in the front.
