December 6th, and nobody has posted yet. I guess I will start.

Got my new Exile sub today. Time to build a custom box.

Kind of a 'right of passage' here (not sure if that meant for him or me). My 12yr old did the all the dirty work - I never even touched the saw.

Well, I've always felt like family life at the Berg place must be like living in a Zoo. You've just confirmed it.

And I bring my 18v cordless recip saw for tree duty.

well, here is mine from Saturday. it is hard water this time though.

I prefer to ski, the rest of the family too. this year my son wanted to snowboard, so i reluctantly rode the board again. he picked it up really well and is carving turns all over the mountain, even took some blue runs with him.

We ride at Mt Hood Meadows. They have had a couple "preview" days with just the bunny hill and a jib park open. Not worth driving up for that.

I was hoping that the resort would be open this weekend for my son's visit. But mid-week is forcasting 8000 to 10000 foot snow levels (base lodges are at 5,000 ft) and TONS of RAIN. lame. Temps will drop later in the week, but I think it's gonna be too little too late.

Might have to jump over to Timberline (as they operate year round on the glacier).

Jealous you're already getting turns in.

Similar here. I started my son at 3 in Whistler Kids (because at 2 he could just walk around on skis but that was it). The last 2 seasons he's been dropping double black diamonds with me. Last season (8 years old) I put him in freestyle camp instead of race camp. he loved it and by the end of camp, he was able to get completely above the lip of the superpipe! (I can't even do that!!!) I guess he was also pulling off an iron cross on his jumps.

Can't wait for our winter to start. We've been plagued with some wet/lowtemp days and it's not doing our resorts any favors. We're probably going to go up regardless on Saturday because we have 1 resort (timberline) that operates year round on the glacier.

I'm jealous of you guys with PC and Canyons right there. I can't move because my wife and I have fantastic jobs that we'll ultimately retire from; but I've seriously considered the SLC/Park City area as a place that I could see us retiring too because of proximity to world class resorts, boating, great winter/summer seasons, and still having a real city with arts and culture for entertainment.

That's awesome, the Superpipe is HUGE. We've had crap for snow, but they all make it so we're blessed there. Have a bunch of family in the PNW they all come to PC when they can, have four lakes less than 20 minutes away and three ski resorts less than 10. Only issue with surfing is the water is so cold, first trip out in the spring water was only 38, wetsuits are worn until July...

Yikes. never been in water that cold. we surfed Jan 1 last year and it was 42 degree water. We also have our Columbia River so we never have it too low to ride. We could boat year round if we wanted (aside from freezing temps at nights and on some days in winter). That said, our river temps are in the low 50's in April, mid 50's in may, and into the 60's by june and late summer we'll see 68 to 72...

Come retirement, I don't know if I could actually afford to retire in Park city. seems like housing prices take a huge jump when you get closer to the resorts vs. SLC. I'm in a 3 bedroom middle tier 1800 sq ft 3 bedroom house with a 3 car garage and my place is worth probably around $250k. That seems on par with what I was able to find for real estate listings in SLC, but the places in Park City seemed untouchable. :-(

Take a look at Kamas and Heber City, both are about 10-15 minutes from Park City, a lot cheaper. I keep the LSV in Kamas as I don't have room for it at the house. Only real lake in the SLC are is Utah lake and it gets busy.

Cool, thanks for the tip. Right now it's just 'dreaming of retirement' because I'm probably 15 to 20 years out from such a thing... But it's always fun to dream of boating all summer and skiing all winter without that WORK thing getting in the way!

I did look and saw a couple places that could be realistic. (albeit with only a 2 car garage, BOO!) but it's nice to know that there's stuff out there. I certainly don't want to be stuck in the Pacific NorthWET when I retire.

Found a garbage can knocked over and the other can in the neighbor's yard. The carport was creaking and swaying. Downright scary. It was bad enough that I put the motorcycle in the garage and hooked the Jeep up to the boat and pulled them both to the side of the house NOT under the carport.

We have almost 60k people without power in clark county, with all my work's crews out and contract crews out on top of that working to restore power.

I have seen the sky light up (looking light lightening) as transformers blow...

Should be an interesting night.

Storm's over. Our county had a peak of 62,000 customers without power. we're down to 24,000 now, but they are so scattered it'll be well into tomorrow before some get restored. I never lost power and the carport weathered it like a boss. Glad I opt'ed for the auger anchors and the extra braces. It was definitely swaying and creaking, but didn't seem like it was really threatening to come down. Still, I don't regret pulling the boat/jeep/bike out just to be safer.

More high school playoffs down here in Texas yesterday. Our town was covered in red in red in support of the Katy Tigers. We played the Cobolo Steele Knights from the San Antonio area at NRG Stadium and managed to squeak by a nail biter in OT. 27-20 and out next stop will be Jerrys World in Arlington next week for the state championship against Cedar Hill (this will be the third year in a row Katy and Cedar Hill will meet for the state championship).

This is Hwy 90 in the middle of town

No boating fun this weekend. In fact, the only thing boating related that happened was putting the XLV back under the carport since the windstorm was over.

I did get a start to the ski season though! Started by putting the S6 Sno-Wagon into full on winter mode. Studless snow tires all around and the Thule rack with the big Yakima box on it! Let it storm!!!
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-GuzT7Cd7BJM/VI6A5zVJCnI/AAAAAAAAXDw/sD895QpDypw/s800/20141214_143112.jpg

Sadly, this winter has gotten off to a weak start as far as snow. We have season passes at Mt Hood Meadows and they haven't even been able to open yet. I did score however since my Aunt bought a Subaru and hooked me & my wife up with a free season pass good to the other two ski areas on Mt Hood (Timberline and Ski Bowl). The wife still isn't cleared to ski until January (ACL surgery was April) so my son and I went up to Timberline because they offer year round skiing on the Palmer Glacier. We had a fantastic day up there, but my legs were burning on the FIRST run. So much for wakeboarding and surfing being perfect cross training for snowboarding! ha!

Top of Palmer, 8500 feet
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-pQo2-G2GNR4/VI6BH5pFEHI/AAAAAAAAXEQ/4bNqAvoGrto/s800/20141213_094638.jpg

Later found out that one of my boating buddies did go out surfing on Saturday. I didn't rank an invite though as he had a full boat before getting to me on the list! Doh! (but I would have gone to the mountain anyway. Time with my son on the slopes is priceless).

Today was sunny and nice, so the perfect day to get our Christmas Tree. I have to say that it's nice being in the PNW where we can get an 8 foot tall Nobel Fir from a family owned tree farm for $20. (or pay $5 and go into the National Forest and cut one there).

We found our tree!

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-tr0QsA6NCm8/VI6BA-yhpGI/AAAAAAAAXEI/y4L6f2iYwck/s800/20141214_161416.jpg

And there should be NO surprise that the tree is CRAMMED full of blue LED's!!!

Capped off the weekend by heading to Lowes to pick up the washer and dryer we ordered on Black Friday. My uncle gave me a 10% off coupon in the meantime and they had 2 different reps trying to apply the coupon. In the end, the coupon ended up on there and then it was applied a 2nd time as well. They let me keep the TWO stacked 10% discounts, so that was a great score!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Yea, Jordanelle. The snow started flying this weekend but who knows, I may get out again. Let me know if your around.

Jordanelle is beautiful. It's where our 21V was first dropped in after buying it from Marine Products on the long tow back home.

So you were one of those thousands with the annual pilgramage to the CASL soccer center! My son's school is right next door so we see the faraway crowds they attract several weekends a year.

Well fellas I'm officially "off the market" as of last night.

Asked her to remarry under the stars and lights at The Grotto in Portland. Now it's official.

Um, Berg puts an expensive ring on her finger last night at the Grotto in Portland.

Last night $15k worth of Bronze plaques were stolen from the Grotto in Portland.

http://www.katu.com/news/local/Three-15000-plaques-stolen-from-Grotto-in-NE-Portland-285883101.html

Berg, let me guess, did that ring cost around $15k?

This was our first year at the CASL Showcase, I think it is the first of the next 3 years. We stayed at the Embassy Suites and the field was in Fuquay Varina. Maybe next time we can all get together

Okay, maybe it wasn't you...

Employees at the well-known Catholic sanctuary and botanical garden in Northeast Portland told police that the plaques, located on the upper part of the property, were stolen either late Sunday night or early Monday morning.

I guess you missed it by a day. :-D

Sounds like the only thing you were stealing last night was her heart!

(but you gotta admit, crazy stuff happening at the Grotto this week!!!)

I would argue that being able to catch my 0.001 inches of air while driving the boat with an iPhone is more impressive than the mini air😄

On another note, I love the new moomba wave ghetto gate. Goofy wave is awesome!

The pics in the quoted post are from my buddy's Tige. He runs customs Enzo style sacs and sacs under the bow with just a touch of lead. He is a member of this forum and could elaborate further with more details.

On the XLV, I run my ghetto gate, 900s in v-drive lockers (slightly drained on non surf side), 900 on the cockpit floor, 250lbs of lead somewhere on the surf side, 1180 in the playpen locker.http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/12/31/d67e7416c2ffa6c8a906ff8e4b926ff8.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/12/31/40fbd78d95e642309c61883e154a2f4f.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/12/31/248107d80bf359247572904ebd739d44.jpg

my setup on my 2004 Tige 24V:
1850 lb custom enzo sacs in each locker (who know how much they truly fill but it seems like I get most of it). I have it completely full on surf side and run some counterweight. We are listed pretty hard.

Two 500 lb "center" seat sacs under my bow but I am lucky to get 600 lbs total if they are both full, under the bow cushions there isn't much room. I always fill both sacs.

250 lbs in lead that gets moved around to tweak the wave.

When there is a small crew like in the pics above, I have two 150 lb fat bricks that I fill on the surf side seat.

Although Boonjeepin has been known to show up with additional lead when he surfs my boat:cool: I probably should check his backpack next time too. Wouldn't be surprised if he hid another few hundred lbs in there too.

I love the goofy wave on my boat but I also love Boonejeepin's goofy wave since he added the ghetto gate. Prior to the gate, I really liked the wave. After the gate, I love the wave! Long pocket and very forgiving. Its the only boat I have ridden out a 360. I think I rode out 2 or 3 on my surf style that day and rode 1 out on a skim. On my boat, I am "oh for infinity" in the 360 department.
