Alright guys,

I have researched and read thousands of our archived pages as well as mastercraft forums, diesel forums, etc. The only thing I have not done is called Indmar directly.

What I need to know, is can I run Mobil Delvac or Rotella 15w-40 in my 07 LSV? Obviously it's out of warranty and I do all the maintenance so I don't care about warranty. The manual recommends API rating meeting or exceeding API SL/SJ/CI4/CH4/CG4 and Mobil lists
API CI-4 PLUS, CI-4, CH-4, SL, SJ. Should work right?

I should mention, Pennzoil Marine 15w-40 is hard to find, expensive, and pretty much only available online which is a PITA IMO.

Search posts from Engine Nut.

All the threads he created don't address it. I just found one post where he said Shell Rotella is a good choice. Guess I'll go with that. I hate the search function on here.

Since he's from Indmar saying it's a good choice, I think you can safely go with it. Here is another worth reading: https://forum.moomba.com/showthread.php?14187-Oil-specification-question

Marine dealers in the Nashville area have Pennzoil Marine 15w40.

It's cheap on Amazon now too. http://amzn.com/B00C43BMQW

I ordered 3 gallons of Pennzoil on Amazon last season. Prime too if I recall, and was cheaper than Rotella.

I spoke with Indmar directly. The guy I talked to said they really like the thicker oils in the 5.7 and didn't like anything below a base of 15w. He recommended Mobil 1 15w-50. It's ~$20 at Walmart for a 5 qrt., this is full synthetic high quality oil and it's cheap. The mercury/quick silver 20w-40 was also a good choice per the tech, which is what my dealer uses and used for the first 2 oil changes during the first season (part of my purchase).

A little off-topic, but agree with the OP on the search function..

My advice, use google, and type something like this in the google search: oil change site:moomba.com

That will only bring up results from the moomba forums, and is so much better than using the site's search function. I use that for any forum I want to search.

I use Rotella and get it from Wallmart. Not very expensive.
