Looking at putting tower speakers on our "new" 09 Mobius but don't want to spend a years salary to pay for them. I have been looking at the KM65002 but was wondering if they will be enough at wakeboard range? And what amp to run them?

Yes, they will do the job. The compression driver has a 1.7" voice coil, which is larger then most other 6.5" pro-axial HLCD and larger then some popular 8" pro-axial HLCD. They are a serious wake range projecting HLCD, yet very smooth for a 6.5 HLCD for quality near-field listening. Not as much mid-bass and sound quality as the KMT67, but better projection.

Amp wise, I really like these in the 250W rms range, 200W rms min. Kicker IX5004 if you can locate one, KXM400.4 is a solid choice. I also like the Arc XDi450.4.

So how much difference would 2 more mid-bass drivers make? And is it worth the extra $$$
And how about this amp? MB usually has good stuff right?

Adding the extra KM6500 mid-bass drivers certainly increases the near-field sound quality, especially when the you have the 6dB jumper moved on the compression driver. Down side is, it now requires either dual amps, or a sizable, in terms or wattage, 2 chnl amp or 4 chnl amp. Weve done plenty of KM6500 "6-Packs" with dual IX5004 or KM400.4.

I have th. 6500.2 and yes, you can hear them at wakeboard range. I swapped them into mystock aerial cans...

I did the same thing as Trayson. Have a Roswell tower and had to hollow out the insides a little to get them to fit. I currently run them with about 150 watts per side. Without the FAE I had trouble hearing them at wakebaord range. With the FAE, they're fine. I did just pick up a Kicker IX500.4 from ebay for under $200 though - so deals can be found. Looking forward to the extra 100 watts per side and would recommend at minimum 200/side like the others.
