Truth about 330 vs 345 engine on the mojo

I am being told the mojo is "weak" with the 330 engine and it "has to have" the 345. For you mojo owners out there, would you mind shedding some light on this topic and if it is a valid comment.

If you do have the 330 engine, would simply switching to the 2079 prop solve the "proposed" issue?

There is a lot of difference between the 330 and 345.

To say the Mojo is weak with the 330? I don't think that's a fair statement.

I think you need to look at how much ballast and people you plan on running and what you want to do.

If you plan to keep ballast at stock levels and want to do all sports the 330 will do the job. You can always prop it to a 2079 < I run this prop but I have the 345 >

When i had my LSV with the 325 and went to the Mojo with the 345 it was a noticeable difference in power but my LSV did just fine pulling wake boarders and 3K of ballast after I proped it with a 1617.

Back to your Mojo, if you want to Surf and run bog ballast, or wake board and run big ballast then Yes i think the 345 is worth the investment.

I know I have maxed out my 345 with the 2079 prop but I was rolling deep with 4500lbs lol.

345 has a whole lot of technology that, theoretically, should lend itself to a greater lifespan if surfing is your hobby. either will move the boat just fine but with today's serious lean angles from surfing, 345 would be my choice all day long.
indmar website will explain it all, but 7qt baffled oil pan in itself would be the selling point for me.

Primarily a surfer here and we didn't burn anything visible by the naked eye in 83 hours this summer. That's with the surf motor.

Not exactly on point but I don't burn/use any oil with my 2010 340.

With that said, I would go for the 345 for peace of mind.

My recommendation is to get a 2015 with the 400 Raptor.... Never have to worry about power then.

I burn a very little bit of oil just due to the heavy load but it's the same wakeboarding vs. surfing. I'm not too concerned with the effect of the lean angle on the motors. It's extreme for boating but it's really pretty minor compared to those experienced while 4-wheeling or the slosh due to cornering forces. As long as the oil pump is picking up oil, it doesn't matter much beyond that.

I have a 2013 LSV with the 330hp. My prop is a 13 1/2 X 16 prop, probably too much pitch for surfing but we ski a lot too. I burn/use about a quart of oil every 40 hours. Dealer says that is normal for the heavy weight of surfing. I upgraded to 1,100 # bags. 330 has plenty of power, but given its lower max rpm than 345, probably a little less top end speed.
