Clermont, Fl

in two weeks time water temp dropped from 80 to 73 (same temp as our coldest tap water).

I actually broke out the shorty yesterday.

It has reached the time of year where usually, I'm the only boat on a 2500 acre lake (Minnehaha).

The slalom course was all mine yesterday :)

Ha, the warmest I can ever remember our lake getting to was about 73. There is no way in hell I'd be messing with a wetsuit in those temps. We were out the last couple of weekends, the water was 53. We used wetsuits but the one other boat we saw was trunking it.

sounds like a miserable time. i rode in 52 degrees water on december 19 last year and i couldnt even keep my hands submerged. This was with a full 3/2

May do this one again in '15 - right Russ??

I keep thinking we'll try to extend our seasons out but it just never happens, except for the polar bear stuff.

Damn. I remember NYD last year and that was 42 degree water temp. I didn't have booties and a neoprene cap at that time. Do now.

"we'll try to extend our seasons"??? (says the guy that's talking about winterizing already!!!)

3/2 isn't good enough for that. I rode 52 degree water with that, neoprene socks, neoprene gloves... Now I have booties for surfing (thank God) and added a neoprene cap after getting a cold head on a NYD polar bear run. Honestly with the neoprene gloves, my hands were just fine, even in 42 degree water.

That said, the water temp today should be 55 or 56. I'll let you know for sure later as we're heading out after work!!!

Yep, my prediction was correct. 55.4 degree water temp in the Columbia River. My friend suffered in his shorty. I was a warm and comfortable wimp in my drysuit/gloves/booties.
