So, I saw an ad for a 2008 Supra Launch that was for sale. In the ad, I noticed this cover under the cover on the starboard locker. Have you guys seen something like this before? Is the idea behind it that you can lift your cover and have something to walk on instead of the vinyl?

Never really understood the point of those.

Unless it was real thick, I wouldn't want to walk on it.

Walking area. Kinda similar to
The tiges of that time that had the walkway on one side

Didn't Al Cab do that mod a few years back?

I do recall seeing that mod before. I was thinking it was for storage and quick retrieval of small/thin items when the fat sac was filled.

a walk-way. Interesting.

One phrase that kept coming to mind was: "you put your weed in there".

Berg - good job on finding the thread!

When I had my Supra, and I was installing transom lights and my surf system, I found that there were spaces in the hull that were the perfect size for a bag of concrete. I had a couple laying around, so I put a plastic bag over them and tossed them in there. I had a few comments that those looked super sketchy!!

LOL! I know beach combers who call the packages one sometimes finds as "square grouper"

That does look like one :)

I had thought about doing this as well. I don't like the foot traffic on the vinyl. My concern is that you would use the locker hatch as a hand rail and tear it off the boat. I don't feel like they are very secure. I would beef up the connection points.

I built one for my OBV, and I removed it for exactly that reason, the stock hinges bend way too easy and I couldn't find any good replacements to fit the contours of the OBV gunnel/locker area.

I can't imaging having to open up the locker cover every time some gets in and out of the boat. Seems like a pain to me. Also could be slick with wet fee. Just my .02
