I got a new Tahoe last Xmas and it tows my '13 OBV (slightly smaller and lighter than your LSV) like a dream. I had a Traverse before and it seemed that the boat was towing the truck more than the other way around. :) I can't speak for the Silverado, but I would guess you would notice the difference.

I have a 2011 Suburban, which is basically the same vehicle, but a couple feet longer. I have no problem towing my LSV. It has the 5.3 engine, 3.42 gearing, and the six speed transmission. It will only run in 5th when in the towing mode.

With the shorter wheel base the ride might suffer some. We went from a crew cab 1500 with the 6.2 to a suburban with the 5.3 ride is softer, but its shorter on power.

I have a 2011 Tahoe, 5.3L. No problems on the highway, Under 65 it gets respectable gas mileage. never had a problem on any of the steep ramps around here either. Our Geography is relatively flat with rolling hills here and there. I do relish the extra room a suburban would provide though, that's my next vehicle.

I have a 2001 Suburban I am just not ready to give up. It holds so many people and tows so well (it's pretty flat here) that I won't have anything else (maybe a Yukon XL).

Also depends on tire size and gearing. If you pimp it out with oversized wheels/tires you're reducing your gear ratio and making it work harder. Ask me how I know...

My GMC 1/2 ton with lower miles pulled way worse than my brother in law's stock Tahoe with 3x as many miles. And man that Tahoe can turn sharp!

I have on 07 yukon with the 5.3 and 373s in the rear. It tows nice. Could use some air bags in the rear to stop some of the bounce from the trailer tongue. I don't notice much of a difference between towing with a buddies silverado ext cab with the same powertrain. The biggest difference is visibility but you will get used to that pretty quick. When I tow my buddies nautique visibility is much better as his boat sits lower on the trailer and isn't as wide as the 21v.

We just went from an 09 Tahoe to a 14 GMC truck. We had second row buckets in the Tahoe and a third kid on the way that would put 2 car seats and a booster seat it would get tough to get them in and out, so we went back to a truck with a bed cover.
The Tahoe had no room for storage with the third row seating in. had to store everything in the boat or if not pulling the boat put everything on a hitch goofy rack.

Tow wise pretty close to the same. The new 5.3 is getting a little better gas mileage. (but I cannot say much because I will never get good gas mileage when I tow at 75 to 80 mph)
I would recommend staying away from the air shocks on the Tahoe (air ride). ours went out at 70,000 miles and had two friends shocks go out between 60 to 80,000 miles and they are about $500 each.

Skip the Tahoe and go 'burb. I did put the cheapo air lift kit inside the rear springs. Really helps level everything up and smooth it out. Was under $100.

I use a 2005 Grand Cherokee on the 24 SSV and it does great! The 5.7 Hemi and trailer brakes help.

My 2006 Ram Hemi tows better than my 3.0L ranger did but in my opinion still leaves some to be desired. I hate when it down shifts on over passes or while driving into a head wind

2013 RAM 2500 Diesel, a lot of truck rated to tow 18,000 lbs. Can tow the LSV without even feeling it, even doing 80 into a headwind going up hill. I have thought of selling my truck and getting a new Silverado 1500 as I don't feel I really need that much truck.

Going from a 6sp 3500 cummins to the yukon I have now I'll agree with David the downshifting up hills is my biggest complaint after making the switch. I wish I would have looked harder for a denali with the 6.2 but I like 4x4 over the awd the denali comes with.

Couldn't agree more definitely a Hurst.

My tow vehicle is an old bucket of crap 97 Tahoe. The Tahoe def struggles with the LSV, but for now it's getting the job done I only have $1K in the thing.

Has anybody towed with the new 1500 Ram Diesel or Cherokees? My girlfriend loves the new Grand Cherokees, but I'd prefer getting the diesel, but they are few and far between to test drive one. The V6 was underwhelming performance wise and I don't want to pay the gas bill on the Hemi.

Not sure on the new Ram yet. Moving away from a Cummins engine was a bad move IMO. My neighbors tow their Mobius LS with a Grand Cherokee, I am sure it does fine on the flats but would guess it slows quite a bit on the hills.

When we bought our GMC two weeks ago my wife wanted a dodge truck. But the dealers in IL would not deal on them. Dodge dealers were giving me 3 grand more than Chevy dealers were giving on my Tahoe but out the door price with the trade in dodge was 7 grand more the Chevy or GMC for and equally equipped gas motor truck.

A month ago the dealer could not get a 2014 dodge 1500 diesel (there were only 10 left in the united states and no one would dealer trade for them.) on top of that they said if they could get one it would be sticker price with only a $2000 rebate.

I asked about ordering a 2015 and they were telling me sticker price with no rebate $53,000.00.
I could of got into a very nice equipped 2014 gmc 2500 duramax for $55,000 or dodge 2500 with a cummins for $57,000.00 and the sticker price on these are close to $70,000.00

These truck prices are just getting crazy. everything keeps getting higher and higher in price.

What blew my mind on all this is that dodge was all around higher price on everything. I am a Chevy guy and my wife family is Dodge (The truck is for the wife and to pull the boat so I was thinking all along it would be a dodge). and every time I look in the past dodge has always been a few grand less in price than Chevy.

I decided to stick with a 1500 gas If I need more my construction company has a 2004 chevy 2500 crew cab duramax I will use when towing far or a bunch of hills we like using it.
