There are 3 frustrating things about this boat. 2 of my frustrations deal with the cockpit and driver seat. I am going to try and install a swivel base or a swivel seat in the winter. I have seen a few blogs on this, and for whatever reason, there doesn't appear to be any longterm info. I see it done, and the longterm results don't routinely show up.

any suggestions, concerns, questions, recommendations, please let me know.

my gripes: 1. nonswivel seat 2. narrow walkway to cockpit 3. board rack (factory--easy fix)

thanks in advance,

K

so here is my take on it. I bought my boat and the previous owner put a swivel on it. After using it for about a year I would actually like to take it out. It is a locking one but I almost never use the swivel at all and it does make the seat a little wobbly. It is kind of hard to get to the lever to swivel it so I actually bought a non locking one like in the link above and installed it thinking it would be nice to just swivel without needing to use a lever but it made the seat even more wobbly. I know a lot of people like the swivel but I would like to go back to stock. Just my .02

ps if anyone has a stock seat bracket for a 07 LSV let me know.

Do you have an xlv? Why the angle

Yes, its a 2012 it sits on an angle now, front to back , so this may level it off when it rotates. most mods have added an angle when adding the swivel with some sort of angle iron. so i figured I needed it.

I was going to order that as well, but went with the cheaper option first.

Can you get some pictures of how this was installed?? I was looking at mine and I can't seem to grasp how to install one of these things. Thanks.

I probably won't have it for a week, but I will take pictures when I get around to installing it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. It looks like it will be a lot more stable than the swivel.

David, do a search on swivel and you will find a good thread. You put in an aluminum plate and a short piece of angle iron to level it up. Nothing to it. I got both pieces off ebay for less than $20 and a $12 swivel. Works great and love it.

Pat. How big was the plate?

Pat. How big was the plate?

I can't remember exactly but it was within a few millimeters of what you see in this thread:

This is pretty much the thread I copied:

So I got it installed yesterday and here are a few crappy pictures from the cell phone. This is what I ended up buying. http://www.go2marine.com/product/67463F/low-profile-seat-slide-and-locking-swivel.html?WT.srch=1&WT.mc_id=gb1&utm_source=googlebase&utm_medium=productfeed&utm_campaign=googleshopping&gclid=CL-UkMLhosACFYk-Mgod6WoAVg

I took the seat and hardware off, and the new plate that screws into the bottom of the seat fits perfectly without any modifications. All I had to do was screw in the 6 screws to mount the plate to the seat. Just took them off the old plate and reused them. Then I just had to decide how far forward, back, left and right I wanted the seat and mark on the fiberglass where I needed to drill the new holes for the base to mount to. Went to Home Depot and got the right size screw and nuts and mounted it up. The only other thing I did was to take the old (angel iron?) off the old swivel and move it to the new one. I put this under the back of the base to lift up the back of the seat a little like it was on the old set up. Overall it was very easy and it is a million times more solid. It slides and turns very smoothly. the only think I need to look at to see if I can improve on is the knob you turn to loosen the forward and aft sliding is tough to get to. It is under the seat on the right. I need to look and see if I can make it longer or something so it is easy to get to.

the first picture is the old swivel that was there. The next two are with the base and whole unit mounted to the seat.

these are just the pictures from the side, rear and front of seat. It raised up the seat about an inch and a half total over the old one.

Scott, looks good, does the unit seperate into two pieces?

yea, the two pieces just slide apart which makes it really ease for installation. Just loosen the knob for sliding and they separate.

Does the factory seat mount have the forward tilt
Built into it? It seems like this set up could easily buckle

Has anyone done this on the older (04-06?) boats with the more blocky style driver seat?
Would love to have a swivel built into mine.
