I checked some of the other threads without any luck. Fuel gauge is dead. Is there a way to see if it is the gauge or something at the other end?

Thanks in advance.

Here's a nice troubleshooting guide: http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/document.do?docId=833

Basically, you can measure the resistance of the sender (gauge disconnected) or momentarily short the input the gauge to ground which should show up as Full.

Unless power or ground connection to gauge has failed, it's most likely the sender (in the tank). Senders fail frequently, gauges fail rarely.

Also if you need to re-order the sending unit, make sure you measure the tank depth. When I did, the old unit always said that it was empty when it was 1/2 a tank. Then new unit is very accurate. They didn't increase the length of the rod, they shortened the float so it takes longer to move.
