My new Seadek pad finally arrived today 10 weeks! It seems like it is going to be easy to remove the old hard rubber swim platform. I started pulling up the corner and started pulling, only leaving behind some adhesive. Just wondering what I can use to easily remove the old adhesive and won’t damage the gel coat?

I would think goop-off or something would take care of it.

Yup goop off, bug removal, mild solvents, wax and buffer will all remove it. just don't use anything to abrasive or to strong like gasoline because it can damage the gell on the deck or the back of the boat if it gets on it.

Acetone will remove adhesive really well. I used it to remove the adhesive left by the numbers on my old boat.

I have done 2 platforms using mineral sprits. Soaked the adhedive for about 15 minutes , then scrapped it with a plastic putty blade.

My favorite is 3m adhesive remover. It works well and is extremely safe.

I've done this four or five times.

I have tried all the above and I have found that gasoline and plenty of rags is the easiest and quickest.

I second that method. I would also mention that depending on what type of pad you put back on now is a great time to really buff out the swim platform before you put the new pad on there.

Mineral spirits and 3M non scratching scouring pad seems to do the trick. I am installing a new Seadek pad that big had to wait ten weeks for.

I do that to clean parts and stuff. Then just throw the rags over the fence into the neighbor's yard or stash them in his garage when he leaves the door up.

Awesome idea! I think a fish wrapped in those rags would be interesting too!

Thank you, I won't miss all the black feet all over the interior, that's for sure.

You will find it was worth the wait. Still about the best mod I have ever done. Love it.
