Does it matter which wore I hook to + and -? The wires are not labeled and it seems like hooking them up either way pulls the plunger in. Also where does the adjustment tab under the solenoid need to be to have it work on the switches? In the on or off position ? Thankshttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/27/5y5utu7a.jpg

I just replaced all three of our sprinkler valves with the Irritrol. Either way with the wiring is fine. The valve should be in the full off position, thus needing power to open.

The water flow direction does matter though so make sure arrow on valve is facing right direction. It's a little hard to see but there is an arrow embossed on the valve.

Bob

Exactly what he said ^ that silly on/off valve gave me fits. Has to be off.

What they said. Polarity doesn't matter on the wiring. The on/off is just a manual override so on/off kinda makes sense. Valve works fine without it and I didn't see any reason to ever have then on all the time so I removed mine.

So just take off the solenoid and turn the black piece counter clockwise so that it is at the stop point ?

No need to remove the solenoid. Just turn the black knob to the off side. Keeping it off is what keeps unselected bags from filling when the Rule is powered. If they are "off" they can only open under power by selecting the appropriate switch. Kind of reverse logic.
