View Full Version : Which prop for LSV?

I'm just wondering what props other LSV owners are running? It is my understanding that SC recommends the acme 537 prop for the LSV due to a "prop hum" created if the prop on the LSV exceeds a certain diameter. I am currently using the acme 537 and my concern is hole shot, which I think could be better. My hole shot is only an issue when ballast is full (I only have stock ballast). I also have the 409 engine, so I am pretty surprised that the boat is working like it is to get on plane with full ballast. The boat seems to run great once out of the hole. Maybe I'm just overthinking this one, but any prop suggestions would be appreciated. Also curios to here what others with lsv hull are using. Thanks.

I run the 1617 and love it, although I run more than the stock ballast.

Im running a acme 1273 which is a 14.5x14.25p .150 cup prop with ibs amd upgraded 1100 lockers on my 2014 lsv. The boat came new with 537 on it and it made a big difference. We still run 39.8 by gps on top end . Couldnt be happier. We mainly surf and have the 330 assault engine.

Thanks for the responses has anybody with a larger diameter (14") prop experienced a prop hum? I'm not sure if I'm willing to tolerate that.

I only had hum with my stock OJ. This is much quieter, and no vibrations like the OJ.

I've got the 1617 and love it too. Lots of extra ballast on our boat.

My understanding is ojs hum acmes dont. My 14.5 dia is like butter and as far as clearance issue's with the trailer the 1235 acme is a factory option prop if it fits the trailer it clears the 1235 is 14.5 also.

We run the 1433 and have between 2000-2500 lbs ballast for wake boarding plus passengers. Stock prop couldn't get the job done but this gets us out of the hole and on plane pretty quickly.

grab any of the 14x14 variants and you will be amazed at the difference out of the hole. it was night and day on my supra swapping a 13x17 for a 14x14. I believe I ended up with the 1235. wish I would have taken that prop off and kept it for the new boat.. as mentioned make sure you have the proper clearance with the trailer prop guard before you put it on.. if you are going to upgrade ballast in the future to surf ;) upgrading will be the best $$ you spend on the boat.
acme will not hum. there are MANY threads discussing the issues of oj props and the hum that they have. my original 13x17 was oj and had the hum. switched to acme and never looked back. I know that oj was on here for a while trying to defend the props but don't remember the outcome..

Luke, I think that they missed a bit when they ordered that prop for you. If you want we could always through my 1235 on to see the difference too. Or we can just hop in with Reed and see what prop he has on too. I think that re-propping would help smooth out the cruise consistency. Either way we have some different options to play around with. Actually Brad B was looking for a higher speed prop on his outback v and I think yours would work well for him.

I'd take mark up on using his prop for a trip out. it'll sell ya on buying a new one.

ed has one for sale in kane's thread, but it's an oj. might have some vibrations with it however I know the price is killer for what is essentially a new prop...

The 537 should be fine with stock ballast. I run the 1161 (same prop with a little more cup) and run about 1800 lbs. for surfing. I like the tweener prop for top end for skiing and running home back down river when storms roll in. If I ran more weight I would prop down though.

I have the stock 537 and a 1433. The 537 does ok with stock ballast and 3-4 people in the boat. I prefer the 1433 and haven't loaded the boat yet more than it can handle.

Scott, what is your top end like with the 1433? I still like to slalom around 35 and when we run from end to end, I want to haul ass sometimes.

I just got the 1235 from having a 537. Night and day for me was running around 3500lbs ballast the other night and pulled out no problem. The 537 had a hard time with factory 1800 an a couple ppl sitting in te back

Well, you should put the wakeplate down for takeoffs if you are loaded heavy to the rear running the 537. But the 1235 would handle it no prob I'm sure.

Beejwest, I run the 1433 on my 07 LSV and I want to say we get up to about 38 or 39 but the engine is screaming - really high RPM's. We never take it that high, only once for a test back when we first put it on. I certainly wouldn't want to do it on a regular basis.

I was at the dealer yesterday and tried out the 1235. I loved the performance but did notice a slight hum. Probably nothing to worry about but I had them order a 1433, which has same pitch and cup, but is 14" vs 14.5".

Luke you are going to love it. How did you cruise hold after switching? Was it more stable?

Yeah cruise was more stable. Biggest difference was quicker out of the hole and boat ran at higher rpms

It screams with the stock OJ anyways at WOT. Lol. I think I only got 39 with that prop.

I've had great results with a 1161 (13.5x16 .135Cup), top end at 39 at 1800' elev. and surfs well.

That's the one I run. I think I only get to 38 though but I usually have a pretty full crew and a heavy cooler on board.
