holy smokes!

Thanks for the reminder.

I forgot about the longest day. I was planning on making a couple peach pies, so I guess it should be today.

You have to work, so I hope it isn't the longest work day for you.

I did some dive rescue this morning and then get my boat ready for the summer. I did my first self rescue in two years. I had knee surgery last year and couldn't do it and I feel good about getting back up on the slalom ski that I missed last year also. Maybe I will put more than 15 hours on the boat this year.

"crawfish"? as a die hard yankee, I would not eat anything called a crawfish.

Sounds like a one claw lobster with a speech impediment. "Hewwoo, I am a crawfish. Can I hewp you find your way?"

In Pittsburgh we have crayfish - but normally those are left alone to live amongst the skunk cabbage beds, and attract the trout.

Kids learn to catch them one handed in the creeks and then move up to playing with fire trucks.

Oh, creeks down here are WAY different than creeks up north. Down here you have stuff in those creeks that want to kill you.

If your a southern kid who enjoys playing in creeks, you grow up to star in "swamp people".

ALL lobsters down here are mini lobsters. They don't even have claws. Ain't nothin' better than a New England lobster!

Crawfish sounds interesting. One of these days I do want to try them.

Corn and mushrooms?

Yes, when you boil crawfish you do not boil them just by themselves. You add thinks like corn, potatoes, mushrooms, and lemons to pot to help add flavor as well of soak up some of spice. The corn from crawfish is some of the best you can eat (if you like spicy food).

We do a boil every year at our church. It's coming up next week. Our buddy who owns a welding shop in town has a huge pot we use. Man, it is some good food.

Sounds very similar to a New England Clam bake.

Lobsters, steamers, little neck clams, potatoes and corn on the cob. When it has cooked inder ground for two hours, everything is dipped in butter.

This particular boil is a shrimp boil with tons of huge gulf shrimp. You can use crawfish like they do at a local restaurant called Po' Boys Creole Cafe. Mmmmmm.

Ed try any seafood restaurant, especially Cajun ones. I wouldn't buy a sack (approx 30 lb) and try to to cook it myself for my first time trying

I don't know about FL but you can order live crawfish online right from LA. I am sure you can find a restaurant or wholesaler in FL that has them for sale.
