8 gallons of water.....just pumped 8 gallons of water with my shop vac after a heavy rain on my new Mondo. Kind of a lot..and every thing was dry before the rain, so it's not coming from seals or ballast...

And both cockpit and tonneau cover were in place....my dealer even made some mod to the overs so both fresh air intake are covered...

Anyone has experience something like that?? And what dud you do to correct it??

Thanks!!

The covers are not 100% water proof.. so if the water sits on the cover it will seap through..if I don't put the poles up in mine I will pool water and I'll get lots of water in my boat as well

It runs down the windsheild under the snaps into the boat, a full mooring cover is the answer if it stays in the weather a lot, or get a cheap Walmart full cover for temporary use.

And what did you do to correct it??

If you store your boat outside, you should always pull your drain plug out.

With my obv the drive sloped the wrong way so the water went to the bow area even with the jack as high as possible, and the water pooled in the bow, no plug up there. With the mojo and mondo it should slope better towards the drain plug.

Just remember to put plug in prior to launch:p

Boat outside...but on the water....don't think I should pull out the drain plug!!!

Where is it pooling so the bilge pump does not empty it?

Boat is new...I will try to get refund from dealer and buy a full mooring cover

Ok, DON'T pull the drain plug if it's in the water. But, you need to check that bilge pump ASAP! I've seen moombadaze and kaneboats LSV's endure hour long downpours at my place and the bilge pumped out most of the water. Never did we see 8 gal left in the bilge. A mooring cover would also help.

Had so much water a few weeks ago the water was up to the carpet floor. The gas tank actually push up the floor.

The automatic bilge wasn't working..

Bilge pump higher than the lower point under the motor....bigle is running just fine but CAN not pump every thing

Full Cover with poles is the only answer, My 2 piece mooring cover leaked like a sieve!

My snap on is leaking in the bow but not the back. Told the wife I am buying a one piece to go over top when we are not at the lake or if it is going to rain while we are up at our cabin. The dampness cannot be good in the long run.

Did you treat it? My snap on works pretty good, the water pools if it's a heavy rain but doesnt leak.

Mine used to come in from the windshield area under the bow cover, not through the cover.

Dealer just gave me a full moomba mooring cover......still leaking like heel..... I think it's coming at the base on the tower since there's non flap that goes over the tower bottom.

I will have to do some mod. Anyone has done it? How do you cover the tower base so no water can go inside the boat?

The cover needs a raised boot design at the tower to allow water to flow around it.

Your right......it also need a flap over the tower base because the rain goes right trough between tower base and cover. I put a towel today inside the boat at the tower base and it was soaking wet after a good rain.

I think this is how the water is getting into the boat. Then the carpet sucks everything up and it get wet up to the middle of the boat...

I have the same problem... i found that i had my back pole to high and was pulling the inside edge of the cover away from the tower and allowing water to come in. I am taking my cover to get a flap sewn on that will be sewn on the inside of the tower leg, go over the bottom part of the tower and velcro on the outside. Also i am getting them to sew an extra patch with some straps that i can pull the tarp harder downwards at the back of the boat like my evolution cover did. I will be ordering an evolution cover as soon as this one begins to show wear..

A few things.... I have the factory cover on my Mojo.

-Does the Mondo come with straps or just the poles? It looks like just poles in the pic. If it came with straps, use them as they will help with the pooling that occurs.

-I use really basic spring clamps to hold the fabric together over the tower base... Closes the gap some but also holds the cover tight so water can't pool.

You'll still get water... The cover isn't the greatest... Tends to funnel water right to the tower base and into the boat.

I'm going to pick up an evolution cover for next season so I can have a cover that works while it's sitting or being towed.

My Mondo came with 2 poles and straps to hold the poles in place. There is also a strap that runs from the front pole over the windshield and to the back pole. This does help a little but i agree the water is funneled right to the tower leg.

My dealer will do the same mod for me...but only at the end of the season...lots of water to come! I will use uniwarking clamp idea.

Cover came with straps. The drawing that came with it shows that the strap are used to fix to cover to the trailer..

Yeah, that's not right. Straps go under the cover to support it. I'll post some pics tomorrow. I know what ya mean though, documentation isn't good.

How/what did you connect the strap at the front and is the rear pole sitting on the floor?

mikenehrkorn
08-20-2014, 03:16 PM
I have my front straps around the grab bars (which it looks like uniwarking does as well). I believe he has his rear pole sitting on the bench between the cushions, but I have it sitting on the floor in my OBV.

Took me a while to figure out as well... I started with just the poles under the cover but that didn't work out very well.

I do mine differently as i used the grab bars by the cupholders for the back pole i am going to change it up.

Update---- just talked with my dealer and he said the back straps should go to the pop up cleats at the back

I was thinking the exact same thing... either that or a flexible plastic clamp that goes over pipe and cut it to fit in between the front and back parts of the tower leg and clamp the cover inside it....

Would love to do that too...just don't know where to get clamp like that...and it has to be easy to install...
Any suggestion on how or what can be used as a flexible clamp?

I just remember the plastic clamps we put on the hydraulic rams of our old bayliner to protect in case of the line blowing while in transport... something like that except bigger and a little softer

This is what i did to my Mojo last fall. it has helped so much for keeping the water out of the boat through those cutouts.
