Buddy is between 2 Moomba's. Tell me pros and cons

2004 Möbius LSV or 2008 Outback V.

What does he want to use it for? There are pros and cons to each, but would be better to know how it will be enjoyed.

Wants to mainly surf. Both have Gravity III balast

I may be partial, but I would say the LSV is the better overall boat. Bigger, heavier, more room, higher freeboard.

Both have similar hull designs, 08 Outback probably has the EFI engine while 04 LSV is probably carb.

Tough call, condition and price should play into each as well. Maintenance records available for each? Can he take both out for a demo and then decide?

If I'm not mistaken, those are the same boat. The LSV changed hull in 2006. The older LSV hull became the OBV. So, a 2004 LSV and a 2008 OBV have the same hull. The 2008 would likely be in a little nicer condition and have EFI, etc. But, as for the wake they would be about the same. Use the "Archive" function under "About Moomba" at the top of this page to look at the specs on the two years/boats.

Is this a trick question? Same boat . . . all things equal, the newer one, but depends on price difference, options, and most importantly condition

It's the same boat essentially with 4 years worth of upgrades to the 2008 obv as pat stated, which ever one is in better shape , lower hours by year , options, and a price to fit your budget

They're the same boat, I just sold mine but if your interest is surfing you want the newer 06 LSV. Big difference in size and surf wake..
