I have noticed recently that I have a lot of other toys other then my boat. I was curious to see if I am the only one who has a bunch of stuff.

So what does everyone else have?

I'll start.
Obviously my boat 2008 Mobius XLV

My other recreational hobbies require some pretty small stuff:

Distance running: shoes, shorts, reflective vest and GPS watch

Camping: backpack, lightweight tent and lightweight gear

Guitar playing: Fender Stratocaster and couple Fender amps

I respect anyone who can distance run. I have always had a hatred for running.

I've always been into music. Played trumpet through high school. Played bass in a band in college. I miss that. Nothing like playing in front of people

My daughter used the golf cart to go around and take pics. One of them was just of the 9th hole with nobody in it. But I think it was a pretty cool pic. What do you guys think? Boat durning the summer

Dirt bikes when we are not on the boat

Hunting white tail during hunting season

Shooting at the range when I can find ammo. (my son has 3 different 22's, it is still hard to find 22 longs)

I love to do a lot of things but time just doesn't permit. I found that I had too many hobbies.

Camping

Snowboarding-gear just sits now and we moved to SC so probably will sell it.

Golf-love to play just don't have the time to practice

Shooting & reloading-trying to get out as much as I can but when it's warm out we're on the boat.

I have two young kids so it really is difficult to do anything that doesn't involve them. Which is why the boat is awesome because we can all enjoy it.

I wish I was rich and didn't have to go to work everyday and could just split my time doing those activities I love!!! Oh to dream!!

irish-racing
05-15-2014, 03:58 PM
I also have the same dream. Maybe one day. I need to invent something.

What reloader do you use? My neighbor has a Hornady reloader for sale with everything I need to start reloading for $600. I have never done it before.

Cigars n scotch

I just use the Lee Classic Turret press. Really like it. I just got into reloading so I am no expert but I enjoy it. Finding powders is what is tricky.

We have kids in travel soccer and not just around the outer belt of Columbus. We have been to Iowa, NC, Washington DC, Las Vegas, Grand Rapids, and countless trips to Toledo, Cincinnati, Northern KY, and Fort Wayne. This is since June 2013 to now.
Other than that we do enjoy the shooting range when we have time. Scored 2,800 rounds of .22 on Black Saturday last November.

irish-racing
05-15-2014, 08:02 PM
I think I'm going to buy my neighbors. It would be so much cheaper to reload my own stuff.

My neighbor just bought a couple thousand rounds of .22 ammo the other day for what prices used to be.

Unfortunately the lake (pond) in that pic isn't very deep or very big. It's a "no motors" lake but I see canoes and kayaks out there every now and then. I do have coupons for the course if anyone wants to come down and play it in the wintertime. Surf/golf weekend sounds great. That way we can make sure every single muscle and joint is good and sore on Mon.

I have my 2000 Jeep Wrangler TJ that's built to high heaven for rock crawling and wheelin'. (ARB's, Atlas II, 35" beadlocks, Full Cage, tons of skid and armor, winch, Onboard air, upgraded axles, bumpers, custom seats, full A/V stereo system with Rock cams, and the list goes on).

I really don't use it that much anymore, but my 8 y/o has begged me not to sell it.

I have a little Chalet Alpine camping trailer. I needed something my Jeep could tow. It's got a double bed, 3way fridge, furnace, hot water heater, toilet/shower, 3burner range, sink, dual battery, dual propane tanks, solar panel. Pretty hooked up for a little light trailer (and it's paid for!).
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Uwhd6X2T6vU/UW7hBoIkbiI/AAAAAAAAN0M/AMdZTi0FkrU/s800/2012-08-24_12-20-00_241.jpg

Every now and then I get out on my bicycle. I figure it counts since it's about $2k of bike. Full carbon fiber frame/cranks/bars/stem/seatpost/forks. Has different pedals now though. I <3 CF!!
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-pEfLgFUU-cc/SUbuyraR-TI/AAAAAAAAFDs/QIjGBb-j7u0/s800/DSCF2272.JPG
I have a GT full suspension mountain bike too, but never use that except for tooling around the neighborhood with my son.

And one of the coolest presents my wife ever got me was this sign to put up in my garage. It's 100% the truth and what I call the garage!

The Kawi is affectionately named my "dirty girl". She's had a few go-downs and she just keeps on going. Hard to justify something different when I don't ride it that much anymore and it's paid for...

The track is Oregon Raceway Park in Grass Valley, OR. It's a rollercoaster with tons of elevations changes and lots of interesting twists and turns (both off and on-camber). Pretty challenging. I've only ever done ORP and Portland International Raceway. I had a couple seasons where I had a track addiction, but I kinda plateaued as a rider in the middle "B" run group and my interest got pulled away into other things...

But it was a fun time in my life. We'd take the Jeep and Camper to the track and camp in the upper pits. I'd then find someone to tow my bike for me on my little flatbed trailer. My wife would work as a cornerworker up in one of the towers. Good times, but dumping that kind of money on track weekends got harder to do--especially when I got the boat.

Yeah, the Jeep is fun and especially so when drop top. But I have to admit that the BMW has spoiled me. When I can go from top up to town down in 10 seconds with the press of a button, it makes it "too easy". That said, i do have the Jeep in the garage and I could just rock it topless all summer and not take it out. But it is so modified it drives like a drunk pig on the freeway and only gets 10 to 12mpg. Ouch!

We do take it for a summer Jeep jamboree in Central WA each summer though, so that's always great times and fantastic memories.

Yeah I imagine when it's that radical the ride is not all that great. I would really like to be able to find a bone stock one with the 4.0 for 10k or less. We don't need anything crazy since my wife just wants it for a fun summer vehicle and finding a stock one would allow us to pick the Rim and tire selection to make it what she wants. I think the most off-roading it would do is driving on a sandy beach haha

That would be super easy to find. Get a TJ (1997 to 2004) as they're a lot more comfortable than older Jeeps. and you can get them with A/C if you look around. There are a zillion top and door configurations too. If you were really smart, you'd get an "LJ" unlimited, as that has the longer wheelbase and adds a TON of trunk and rear legroom. It also jumps the jeep from the stupid 2000 pound tow rating to a more respectable 3500. Jeeps are dumb on their tow ratings. My Jeep has the same drivetrain as a Cherokee XJ and the cherokee has a 5000 pound tow rating. It's all about wheelbase. Of course you have the truck to tow the boat, but it'd sure be nice to have the option of towing short trips with the Jeep.

I would LOVE to have one of the newer 4 door rubicons. that would be pretty amazing.

I totally understand. If it still runs and wants more then why change? I have always been a Yamaha guy.

I just checked out Oregon Raceway Park and it looks awesome! Wish it wasn't a few days drive for me. Virginia International Raceway is similar. Lots of elevation changes and fun turns. Especially their South Course. Has a roller coaster and then this crazy right which used to be the Oak Tree turn (the shade/leaves covered the corner) sketchy but fun as hell once you got the hang of it.

I put most of my money into trackdays. I love the boat but if a choice had to be made the boat would have to go. That is awesome that your wife was a corner worker. I got lucky and my wife wanted to ride and then we got into trackdays together.

I am about middle of the pack in the intermediate group. Luckily a lot of my close friends are CR's so this year being the most trackdays I have ever done they are trying to get me faster and to bump up to A group so we can have fun together. We bought a toy hauler so we had somewhere for us to stay and somewhere for the bikes. We used to tent camp at the track and I got tired of waking up on the group because of a air mattress malfunction.

Great picture of you and your wife.

Actually, this thread has really got me thinking about the Jeep that I don't use. Honestly, I haven't used it in almost a year. It's sitting in the garage and I went so far as to suspend insurance coverage on it because it's stupid to pay insurance on a vehicle I don't drive.

So, it got me to thinking... WHAT IF there was SOMEONE out there that had a 4 door JK Rubicon (more room, more tow capacity) and wanted to get into a built rock crawling rig. It's kind of a crazy thought, but maybe someone would be crazy enough to trade me straight across????

So I just spent the last hour or so writing up a CL ad that tried to comprehensively list out the ridiculousness that is my Jeep and threw down the offer...

http://portland.craigslist.org/clk/cto/4473461961.html

I figure if somehow I could have a 4 door rubicon that could tow the boat, that I'd be a lot happer than having a crazy built 2 door rig that I only seldom ever used... We'll see.

If I had a 4 door Rubicon I would trade you. Sadly I do not. I used to have a 4 door JK but not a Rubicon. Hopefully you can find someone to make that deal.

Those are awesome pictures. I too used to curse profusely at a small white ball. Now I curse at myself for screwing up a turn.

I'm new to the DIY home remodeling and I have a love/hate relationship with being a home owner.

Thank you. I like your Outback. We had the Raptor 26FS before. Had it barely a year and realized it wasn't big enough and there was no separation between the "garage" and living area and I didn't like that.

And teaching your kids to fish is awesome. One of my favorite things my father taught me and we still fish together as much as we can.

my commuter bike when it's not raining. started riding in '04 on a scooter, graduated to my first bike in '06 and this one is my 5th since. did the 600class race bike but after too many birthdays, this is soooo much nicer to commute on and there is nowhere around here to really do a sportbike justice. I do miss idaho a lot on that point.. it's an '11 that I just bought with 500 on the clock. added new pipes and an undertail. not much else to do.

this is the view off our front porch. there's a 7mile long biking/walking trail that takes off and intersects with another one that runs 22 miles and believe it hooks up with another that goes 50 miles or so. the view from the front yard and the private back sold us on the house...
perfect takeoff point for biking and in the winter, you can take sleds from this point 40 miles to lake michigan.

I don't have a ton of "toys" outside of the boat. I'm thinking a golf cart or UTV would be fun for cruising to our friends houses in the neighborhood, and I've been thinking I want a "summer" car but haven't gotten too far into that yet.

I have a 1988 Honda CRX that I built to be a track / auto cross monster, but it just sits in our enclosed trailer most of the year:

it doesn't all fit. our sleds and sled hauling truck are in a warehouse across town for the summer. come fall, we swap the boat and the boat hauler for the winter. guy charges me $700/yr to store it all in a climate controlled insulated warehouse. really a good deal.

I'm late to this thread, but this is my favorite too. Thanks for helping prove to the wife that I'm not alone. You guys make me look tame in comparison.

If it's not too late to share- our newest edition is an all electric Tesla 85D to our fleet that replaced our Westy. It makes the 1.5 trip to the lake house even faster and more enjoyable. Plus we have just a few toys, kayaks, and SUP's when we get there too as you can see in the pic. I've been told I have a slight life jacket addiction, I think at last count I had over 30 of all sorts and sizes. But I say "safety first" for all the company and kids we have down to the lake every summer. No one's ever drown so I think my investment has paid off.

picked this up earlier this summer as a summer daily driver. it's a new '15. it's a quirky little car but fun to drive and handles well. insurance is dirt cheap.
200hp small turbo4. already have lowering springs, intake, full turbo back exhaust, fmic/bov and flashed ecu ready to install. a few more goodies over the winter and when she comes out of hibernation, should be good for 275whp out of a 1.6liter motor and still 35mpg's :)
this was delivery day :) 54 miles on the clock.

Guess I am the boring one, a GT 29er mtn. bike and about 10 pairs of snow skis. No pictures handy right now but the rack I made to hang them all on the wall is a 2x4 8ft long and it only holds 8 skis and poles. If I count my wife's and son's skis we are pushing about 20 pairs.

Really our only two hobbies, on the liquid snow in summer and frozen snow in winter.
