Suggestions for a good gas caddy?

Well, we're finally getting our new LSV out on the water next weekend after waiting for what seemed like FOREVER for the ice to go out this year! Anticipating lots of skiing, surfing and tubing over the next few months I'm now in the market for a good quality gas caddy to keep us on the water as much as possible.

We're on a small lake (~400 acres) with no commercial services, so we bring in our own gas. We have a long, sloping lawn from our place down to our beach and dock, so I need something big, sturdy, but very mobile to go down a grassy slope, across our beach, and onto our dock.

Do you guys have any great recommendations for solutions that work for you??

I use 5 gal cans & child labor.

Keep in mind that you may need to lift your caddy at some point. Unless you want to fill 5 gals and then transfer to your gas caddy, anything bigger than 11 gals will probably require two people to handle when filling.

I have an 11 gal and have used it a lot. But recently I have gone more towards 5gals and use a shaker siphon hose to empty those cans in a hurry. If you get one - get the large diameter hose.

That's a great point. 5 gal are much easier to handle. I'd probably rig up a cart or hand truck that would carry multiple and use the shakers. I trailer every time so I don't have a system although I fully support the child labor idea. :)

Maybe supplement your child labor with one of these like Kane mentioned. Should be able to get at least 4 cans on there.

Nice thing about the shaker siphon is you never have a leaky cap to deal with. Keeps gas off the boat and out of the lake. But those are nice cans ...

+1 for the shaker siphon for anyone using gas cans. You will never want to lift and pour a can again!
