View Full Version : Elevation Change

I recently moved my 93 boomerang from Colorado at 5280 ft above sea level east to NC at about 800 ft above sea level. When I put the boat in the water for the 1st time it ran about 10mph faster at the same rpms as in CO.

Other than the elevation a few things were different.

- I had emptied it of all excess crap (Skis, lifejackets, anchors, etc)
- Also my bimini top was NOT on it.
- The water here is slower

My dad said he thinks that the engine is running lean..... the dealer here said it could be the weight or that the engine is running lean.

I then tested the theory by loading it up with all the gear i usually carried in it in CO and it ran closer to what is normal for me.

I am not really concerned that my boat runs faster but I don't want to burn a whole in the piston. If I wait on my dad the boat may biodegrade and I want to learn how to know myself rather than paying a dealer that is an 1 1/2 hours away.

Any help is appreciated!!!!
