Royal purple or merc oil?

Just naught a 2008 LSV from the original owner. Boat is in perfect shape, and the guy said he always ran royal purple motor oil. The manual says to run merc. Should I change or stick with the rp?

I use the royal purple myself in my boat and it is a great product. My owners manual says penzoil but it is just a recomendation. I would stick with the royal purple it is a great oil and will most likely cost less than the merc oil.

Another option is Rotella. It is a recommended oil for my engine.

^^I use Shell Rotella and have for 3 years, works great and is the oil that a lot of Supra owners on the Supra forum use as well. You can find it at Wally World on sale for like $12/gallon so all you need is another quart if your engine takes 5 quarts. I usually double up when I buy.
