Local sign maker is going to make some decals for me.
I've gone through nearly 1000 fonts trying to match the lettering on the 2006 Outbacks.
The closest I've come is Microgramma. Can anyone from Skier's Choice confirm that for me?

It is very possible that the font used was created specifically for skiers choice, thats why you cant find it.

Im also interested in the font type

Thanks

As a sign shop owner, I come across this all the time. I use this website to help me identify odd fonts. Believe it not there are people out there who use this as a form of entertainment or a challenge. Either way, a huge help in finding a font. Here it is...

http://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/

Take a photo of the font you are looking for, and upload it to this website. The will post replies, sometimes in just a few minutes you have your answer.

All else fails, I draw the font by hand.

Hope that helps.

Yellowmobius, sorry for the PM.
Clicked the wrong button.

Anyway

In GA we have the following requirements:
- Number must be painted, decaled or otherwise affixed to both sides of the bow
- Number must read from left to right on both sides of the bow
- Number must be in at least 3"-high block letters
- Number’s color must contrast with its background
- Letters must be separated from the numbers by a space or hyphen: "GA 3717 ZW" or "GA-3717-ZW"
- No other numbers may be displayed
- Decals must be displayed on each side of the bow, before the prefix letters of the registration number

I'm hoping that the "block" requirement gets met with the matching font when I find it.
The "Outback" font is blockish.

Washington State has basically the same requirements as most states do but no one including myself have had an issue with the non-conforming alphanumerics as far as fonts are concerned if certain measures are done.
1) Make your alphanumerics 3".
2) Use a font and color that is readable from a distance.

These rules have been around forever and the bottom line is the authorities can look at your boat and get your numbers. If they can't read your numbers, you may get a personal visit and perhaps get credit for your Coast Guard inspection at the same time whether you wanted it or not.

With the computer generated numbers, they look real sharp on the boat. They sure beat the black and white stickons from Walmart. Before they had the computer generated numbers, I used to have a shop paint them on.

I went through this last fall. Microgramma was my choice also. After much looking, I towed the boat to a pretty good sign shop in town. They took a photo and called me a couple of days later. They did a great job. They even added the shade and the dark outline on both letters and shade. The cost was very reasonable as well (around $30 I think). Like Rugburn said, those guys know what they are doing.
A neighbor who used to work with decals showed me how to install them. That's also important if you haven't done that before.

The Font is mircogrammaDBol EX. I saw it on a website advertising dome registration numbers. Piratescove.com was the site with the link.

Hope this helps.

They are not the exact match, but they look good with the other decals on the boat. Just click on the webshots link below.

that looks so much better than the standard bold white lettering

Finally got my numbers from the State of Georgia.
Apparently, they ran out of decals for the year and we are waiting on them.
Local sign guy did the graphics. Thanks for posting the pics, Nafplio.
