Help with tower speaker/amp setup

Hey guys,
Just installed 2 rfm282b tower speakers on my mobius. These are 200wmax 100rms 4ohm.
The amp I had running them yesterday is 4ohm 400w 2ch. Sounds good but lacking a bit. The amp is bridgeable, so can I bridge and run in sequence ? Or I have a 2ohm stable 4ch 1200 w amp I'm not using. Would one of these speakers per channel on that amp be fine???? Confused:)

Those amp specs are likely peak numbers provided by a marketing team. Can you provide the actual brand and model number so we can see what the actual RMS spec is? this makes it easier to judge whether its a good match and how its going to perform.

Those are 4 ohm speakers, and that cant be changed. So with a single pair and a 2 chnl amp, each chnl will only see a 4 ohm load, which is ideal. Technically, you could wire the pair on series, which would be an 8 ohm load, then bridge them on the 2 chnl. But, each chnl would still "see" the same 4 ohm load as with a single speaker p/chnl. So at the end, no power advantage.

Sounds like its in the tuning, how was the amp set? Gain, cross-over filter, frequency point, etc?

Got amp set on full range and little past half gain.....and the 2 channel is a dual xpe2700
The four channel is an ssl f4 1200. 2ohm stable. Just read it's actually 110 x 4 at 4 ohms

So I should be able to hook to 1200 wt and use channel 1&2 and be safe if unbridged it's only throwing 110 to each at 4ohm?

Ok, the "400W" 2 chnl is only delivering 75W rms (continuous) to each of the tower speakers. Thats fairly light for a tower speaker, especially an 8". id like to feed them at least 150W. Oh, and thats at 14.5V, so they are getting about 25% less with the battery voltage at rest.

going by the specs, 110 is a little better, but then again, thats at 14.5V.

I would suggest running the cross-over filter in Hi-Pass rather then full. Gain past 50% is typically on the high side, how did you end up with it there? I nice 4 chnl with an output of 200W rms x 2 @ 4 would be perfect for those speakers if neither of those hits the spot.

Thanks.....got the 1200 installed and fixin to see what happens....probably get another amp though....this one is just huge
Rest of the speakers on boat (all kicker 6.5) are ran by another amp and sound awesome

Unless the couple inches of hang height is a deal breaker, I would just get a 2nd pair of the m282's. No real advantage to going with a smaller next to a larger. With the volume up, the output from the larger 8's will consume the smaller 6.5's.
