So as I'm preparing to build my amp rack, I wanted to be sure of something. I think this spot is relatively new, but wanted to make sure these uprights are there for the purpose of mounting the rack.

This is in my 2012 LSV.

The Perko came mounted there on mine, so I'm assuming so. But like you, I wanted to make sure :-)

Those are the safest places to mount you amp rack. Then mount everything to the rack.

Thanks Mike. I thought I could see the edge of the left one on your Mojo in some of your earlier pics. Thanks for the clarification.

And what kind of material do you guys use to built the rack?

I'll use starboard, probably from here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/300389596896?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

What I'm trying to find now is carpet that matches. West Marine has some, but they have to order it, and it would take too long. On top of that, I hate giving West Marine money. Nearly everything they sell is over priced. I did buy some SS Screws yesterday though that were reasonable ;-) Does anybody else have any thoughts on carpet?

I took the factory amp rack to the local upholstery shop and matched it there.

I had SC send it to me through my dealer , it was relatively cheap matched exactly, they have two densities of carpet , one for the floor and one for the side walls. I got the side wall density for sub box and amp board.

I just stopped by an upholstery shop on the way in to the office. They have what I need, just need to figure out my measurements

What thickness are you guys using for your racks? 1/2", 3/4", something else ? Thanks!

I would use 3/4 with two or more amps...

Ditto, the amps will help firm it up but you need enough material for the screws to bite into when mounting the amps.
