Does anyone have any experience or comments on the sound quality of the Rockford Fosgate M282 tower speakers? They have some pretty good deals on E-bay for them right now.

When you see an inordinately low price on something like this, you can be relatively certain that the product is being dumped because normal sales are not going well. Companies stay alive based on cash flow. There is no profit when it is unrealized because the inventory is collecting dust. Having said that, they are not too bad of a speaker. You can't argue with the price. And you can't argue with the larger surface area of an 8-inch speaker.
The RF is not like a JL Audio 7.7" for example where they have a separate air suspension version for small sealed tower pods and another infinite baffle version for the expansive gunnel cavities in the boat. The midbass will not compare.
Also, don't expect this RF speaker to perform like a Wetsounds Icon8 for example.
The RF is more of a near field surf speaker based on having a conventional direct-radiating dome tweeter. It won't have the same authority at wake range like you would have from a comparably sized Wetsounds Rev8, which is an HLCD (horn loaded compression driver) and made specifically to project to 70/80 feet.
But again, the RF is just a fraction of the cost of the better options.
I would make certain that the ebay offerings are from a legit RF dealer. RF distribution is not as strict as some others but you still want to make sure you have a warranty and service backing the product.
