First off I just want to say… "FINALLY!" I have found someplace where I can find some good info and like minded individuals! I am new to the site, and fairly new to my Boat. we got about 2 months of use out of it before the season changed on us!
Anyway, I am quite interested in wake surfing, and know the bottom line, you gotta have weight in your boat to make this work. So i have been on Wakemakers.com and they recomend going with 750lb Sacs.
Does anybody have any input on this, what has worked best for them with a similar boat.
i have an 06 OBV, currently have 400lb sacs in the rear, not sure what the center locker is (150?)
I also have what came with the boat, 200lb sacs that we fill up as well to add to the surf side.
We are able to ride with no problem, but obviously "It could be better"…
Just want to say thanks in advance!

Iam not sure about the OBV but most people on this site go with 1100lbs in the rear locker and a 650lb IBS sack in the front, both can be found on wake makers and they also offer a discount to members of this forum and are great people to work with.

I'm not sure about the older models but most with the newer models go with the 750 because the 1100 is a bit too big for the OBV lockers.

I have a 2008 OBV and upgraded the rear bags from the stock 400lb bags to the 750lb bags from Wakemakers, the center locker is still the stock 400lb bag. As far as I know, the 750 bags are as big as you can go in ther rear compartments, when they're full they completely fill the compartments. The difference was night and day after the change and no problem going ropeless although it's still not as good as an lsv or any of the other bigger boats would be for surfing. This year I plan on adding an ibs up front to see if it will get even better.

I have a 2010 outback v. I just bought the 8.3 800# ronin sacks from wake makers. They are suppose too be here Wednesday. I'll let u know how they work. Plus I have two 550 that I will put one on the surf side and one up front and the 400 in the center. I'll post some pics of the wave.

ordered my 750's from wakemakers along with bag vents. Will be able to test on Saturday. Going to put one of my previous 400's up front in the bow, and possible the other on the floor. will see how it goes one thing at time...

Beej77r I am planning to run the 400s from the rear under the bow seats(one under each side) and tie into the current center bag vent. I will be doing this may 11th or 12th. I can update how it works and what i used. This is a 13 obv.

we actually got out on saturday and started messing around, the best wake for my boat, 750 rear locker filled, center bag full, 400lb on the surf side (middle) on the seat, and in the bow, surf side (on the seat). next time out, I am going to try putting some more weight in the (non surf side). The wake was pretty clean on either side doing this. we were trying out a new board, so we will need some more time on the water to keep playing with the wake.

We share the same hull..02 LSV and 06+ OBV
I run:
650 IBS
400 Center
400 Under Port Seat
750 Port Rear
300-750 near the port seat..
The biggest difference for me is water depth, the deeper the better...

I've been thinking about doing the same thing. How does the boat handle the weight

Handles? The boat goes where ever it wants, you just hope it's near where you want to go. ;)

Its like a big heavy TUG BOAT! I had a hard time getting it on plane when we were going to another spot. it took alot of throttle to get it up to go... other wise it handles fine, you just need to be aware of how much weight you got in the boat. if you are just surfing and doing the 11 mph, you are fine. but with that much weight added, I wouldn't go across the lake like that if you weren't actually surfing. Def going to consider a different prop!

I ran 750 rear, 400 center and 650 ibs with the standard prop in the OBV 07 and it handles sluggishly, plus be prepared for rollers with that nose weight in that boat.:o
That's what I kind of figure. I guess a prop will be there next purchase after I upgrade the ballast.

Do u have a true 650# up front or are u calling the IBS 650#? By my estimate a IBS would maybe be 300-350 in an OBV. I am sure some one could figure out a better estimate by filling time. Just curious because even 200# can make the differance.

the 650 was under the seats so I would guess it was 400 to 500 up front. if you put it on the seats it would be a true 650

Cool... I would probably rock it on the seats... i don't have enough storage space as it is... :)

went back out on sunday (mothers day) 750 rear, 2 people passenger +driver, about 600 upfront (guessing) + my center ski locker was full. trim was about 1/4 way up... (which significantly help with the push!!!). Was able to ride good like that!

I finally got the IBS installed in my OBV this past weekend and though I haven't actually filled it yet, I would guess we would get much closer to the 650# limit than 300-350#.

so another update... my buddy is GM over at Carolina Inboard, we were discussing my set up and recomended this, which I ended up going with...
1100 Rear locker surf side, 750 on the rear seat, 400 on surf side, and 600 upfront. WOW!!! I ride on the left side of the boat, and the wave was clean, and huge!!! however, we could not get the right side to clean up with the same configuration... still scratching my head on that one. We have been doing research, and are considering "Making" a new platform that will not interurpt with the surf wave. will give updates when we end up doing that.
