Hey guys I've been stalking this site for awhile now and thought I'd join in the all the fun. The wife and I bought our first boat a few months back when people were starting to off load theirs prior to winter.
We were looking to just get started off with an in/out board mainly because of the price aspect. The more people we talked to just seemed everyone started that way and were eventually kicking themselves for not buying an inboard and were later upgrading.
Took a little trip Atlanta Marine and the wife fell in love with the Mondo but I had a heart attach at the price. Being our first boat I didn't want to jump into the deep end with a new boat so we picked up an 2008 LSV of the ole interweb.

That's enough jaw jacking on to the Pics.
ps.. great prices in the fall but tired of staring at a boat in the garage that's dying to get wet.

And the new tow rig should look nice pulling that Moomba.

Nothing like hitting a home run with your first swing of the bat. Congrats on picking the best all around boat you will ever own and one of the great values in v-drive boats of all time. Come on summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most of us have the opposite problem -- we fall in love and the wife overrules based on $$$!! :)

Anyway, congrats on the purchase and welcome to the forum!!

Congratz, sharp looking combo.

I would like to suggest you look into some serious mud flaps on that truck or get the hitch that you can put a rock guard on. Tires that big and a lift will throw some nasty rocks if you enter any kind of dirt, gravel.

Other wise sweet looking setup, cant go wrong with an LSV

Thanks guys can't wait for some warm weather. Already planning for Lake Martin to be our go to. Will be there on Memorial Day and on the Fourth for sure. Will also be trying West Point just because it's close but have heard some bad things about the floating trees.

did those flat window rain shields come on the truck when you bought it or did you buy. seen a few trucks around with that new style but can seem to find anywhere

I bought the truck that way from the dealer new. It was one of those packaged and built trucks so it's still under warranty. The only thing on the build sheet for the raingaurds list them as "4 peice Slimline rain guards."

those tire flares are just clip ons. I removed mine because I didn't like the way they looked after awhile. once I pulled them off the tire stuck out past the wheel wells and made it look a little tougher. they go back on fAirly easy if you don't like them off

Thanks for the tip. I like the look right now but might take them off if I went to bigger tires, maybe some 37s.

Smart buy! And wetsounds and a Z5 already in place... nice. If it doesn't already have a good prop upgrade, that'd be a good next purchase. Then it's ballast time! You're going to have an amazing summer!

Thanks when I bought it the guy threw in a brand new prop to go with her but I think it's just to the stock specs as well.

Question to those that have a Z5, how do y'all transport it while headed to the lake? I'll be driving a mim of 40min to hit the water. When I picked the boat up I just strapped it in the bed of the truck. It took up the whole bed. Any better suggestions?

Leave it on the boat. If you are worried about the canvas you can just remove the canvas and leave the frame on the tower. A lot of people just travel with it fully assembled on the tower. My personal method is if I am driving less than 100 miles I leave it up, over 100 miles I take the canvas off

I drop the z5 into the cabin of the boat. I think I have pictures in a thread, if you search my previous posts.

Thanks for the pics. Looks like the way to go. I just though if I leave it on the tower doing 70mph that the canvas would rip, and it looks like a pain to get on and off.

It's not hard to get on and off at all. It CAN get heavy if you leave boards on it, so pull those off first. Once you get used to it/ get your procedure dialed, it's super easy and quick.,,.

Sorry should have been clearer. Meant looks hard taking the canvas off. I like the in the boat storage, frees up the bed for more important things.

Yes, I agree with you there. I avoid doing that at all costs. It takes a bit of time.

rdlangston13

If you do take it off and put it inside the boat you will need a towable boat cover to keep it inside your boat. That canvas is pretty durable. Make sure it's on tight.

Thanks. I couldn't resist the other day and hooked up the boat to see what they'd look like together. Just got my spare mount from BoatMate and spare tire. Ready for the road.

First day in the water. We went to West Point Lake today in Georgia just to enjoy the day and get some practice in driving the boat. I was a little skiddish because I couldn't get the boat started at the house this morning with the hose hooked up. After messing with it for a while I finally get it running and decided to head out and burn off some of the old gas.
Dropped it in the lake and it started right up guess it just doesn't like the fake a lake very much. Got a good feeling for the boat, filled some of the ballast and tried to get a good wake(haven't quite figured that out yet.) But, putting that boat back on the trailer is a pain in the a$$. Took a good 5mins and several times driving in circles.

Depending on the ramp, you might have put the trailer too far in.

When pulling your boat up on the trailer don’t cut the power until you get most of the way on the trailer. Since it’s an inboard the backend wants to step out, our boats the backend goes to the right. If you cut power to soon it will want to go on the trailer sideways. My wife did that once; I was flipping out yelling at her to put it in reverse. It was very close but she didnt damage anything.

I go to West Point alot so Im sure I will see you down there.

From my experience, putting a boat on a trailer can't really be taught, it needs to be experienced and with a bit of practice you will be an expert in no time. Have patience (especially if the wife is involved) and before you know it you could do it in your sleep which tends to come in real handy after a long day on the water!! :)

Thanks for the tips guys. I figured out after a while that because of how much the lake was down I needed to put in more of the trailer than I first realized. So need less to say I was hooking up the boat and still needed to back the truck down more. Lessens learned
