Not a typo :-)
GMC dealer had Some nice year end deals on 2014 Sierra 1500 and new ecotec 5.3 is supposed to be getting great mileage. Missed my Chevy so I gave it the ford the EcoBoot.
I loved the ride and comfort of my F150 and the torque of the EcobooSt.

Nice looking truck buddy. I understand your reasons on the F150 and Eco. To each his own, this is why we have options right.

Did they give you a better trade number than the Ford dealer offered?

Do I see "DENALI" on the door?

Nice ride, but it doesn't match the boat. Guess you're getting a new one of those, too?

Yeah. They beat the ford dealers offer. Haha
No not Denali. It's an SLE
Top deck of the supra is sandrock which is kinda off white so the white diamond color isn't far off from that.
Slim chance of a new boat anytime soon. Hoping to start on cottage at lake this year.

Funny thing When I went to ford dealer and they offered bupkis I said if that's what they thought of their own resale value id go back to GM. He said they would take as much off sticker as ford did.
I got a better trade and $7500 off sticker on a 2014 vs the deal they offered on a 2013.
Timing is always key. Noon on 12/31 is a good time to negotiate!!

Ran the gmc on a long road trip a little over a week ago, 500 miles over 2 days. I averaged 19.4 mpg! Quite pleased.

wow. was that trip all downhill & with a tailwind?

I may be in the market for a new rig soon and, out of curiosity, clicked the display in the Silverado over to avg mpg and I'm at 15.6. Made me really wonder what advantage I would get from a ecoboost.

Baton Rouge to Hattiesburg to fairhope, al to Baton Rouge. 70-75 mph
I was excited. My 2011 Chevy avg about 18 on trips like that.
And EcoBoot was in 16.5 range

Can't argue with Chevy and the cylinder shut down method they use on the freeway to make better mileage.

I can't say what my Boost gets on the highway at those speeds. Not as big a concern there. I love my mixed MPG. Towing last week made me feel as though I selected the right overall truck.

Thats what its all about, really its about being happy in your truck.

Glad your happy again Bradd. I know whats its like to be not happy in your truck man.

Is that a 2wd? My dodge does the cylinder shut down thing too but I don't think they programmed it very well. It's almost NEVER in 4 cyl mode

Nice truck man picking up a 6.2 high country this weekend decided with the 6.2L after driving both and didn't see a real noticeable difference in mileage

David, my 06 ram 4x4 would go into 4 cyl mode all the time, at certain throttle pressure/speed/load, I added a aftermarket catback exhaust and you could tell right away due to the change in exhaust sound

My Avy 5.3 would go to V4 mode, but never on the interstate at constant speed (without a load). I never understood why it did not drop to V4 at idle for a stop light, seemed like a waste. I could get it into V4 more often in the 42-50 mph range if I used Tow/Haul (with or without a trailer).

My best trip from Pcola to Tampa unloaded was 19.2 in the Avy, 20.8 in the Ecoboost. My best loaded (boat) in the Avy was 12.8, the EB did is at 12.9

In reality, the difference in mileage is so small, it doesn't matter. Pulling the load, the EB is a far more powerful tower.

I've always thought the same thing. Why not go to v4 at the stop lights. Such a waste of a good idea. Only time ours changes is at highway speeds if you are coasting.

I have a feeling it has more to do with what is actually happening when you turn off cylinders.
At Idle a 4 cylinder has a rougher idle then a V8. A V8 is naturally very smooth due to the balance of each cylinder and there is always a Power Stroke in the engine.

I guess mine does change a lower speeds around town. I only pay attention to it changing when I'm on the freeway though. It goes back and forth pretty frequently at 60 mph but as you get up to 70-75 it solid in 8 cyl mode unless you are going down a hill

Sent from my iPhone that sounds just like how mine was, I think 66mph was a threshold for the cylinder cutout if I remember correctly.
