The depth gauge in my 2000 Kamberra flashes a depth of 6.6 ft. No matter the depth of the water...the read never changes. Is it time for a new depth gauge? Or is it just misreading and needs cleaned?

Any suggestions would be great. Thank you!

nboard10, the only thing i can think of is could it possibly be the keel offset. I know on the Hummingbird depth finder I had, you could adjust this and if you did not reset it would stay at that depth.

thank you QB12

I have an Uniden Depth gauge...not sure if that makes a difference. I am new to boating..I just bought my first boat a few weeks ago. So I am not sure what you mean when you say the keel is offset. What should I be looking for? And how can i adjust it? Then, can I reset it from the gauge itself?

I appreciate you help!

keel offset is designed to allow you to say "you want 3 extra feet of clearance" before hitting any of your underwater gear this allows you that safety.

Mine had up and down buttons to change this.

Also where is your transducer located in the hull.

Ed, Be nice.

Not everyone gets to live in Florida and wakesurf EVERY DAY.

qb12 - the transducer is located almost directly underneath the captains chair on the hull.

do you think I just need to reset the gauge?

Ed G. - lol - I am not running the boat now. It is like 16 deg in Ohio right now. I just bought the boat two weeks ago, but took it for a test run a month ago. That was when I noticed the problem. I am hoping to fix it before spring....I would hate to have a problem grounding it. I am running the boat in a river - I know it pretty well, but sometimes may be in unfamiliar areas.....

so- if I do make any adjustments - will the depth gauge still read if I turn the key to give the boat power - but not to turn it over?

one more thing..

I am not sure if I mentioned that the gauge 'flashes' the depth of 6.6. It does not show the number constant. Could that mean a short?

thanks again

Ed - wish I was in Florida....

You might check with someone with tech at skier's choice. I know that is not where they told me to install it. Trust me they are great to work with.

Also I am pretty sure they don't work when they are out of the water. Are you getting this reading sitting in the boat on the trailer having a beer.

Doug, t-town

ps, just don't tell brian I told you to call.

How do I get in touch with Skiers Choise?

thank you qb12

ps - as soon as it warms up - I will be on it with a beer. You know about T-Town??

I agree a setting or reset problem and the DF is fine, probably a warning level find the manual on the net.

Ed is just talking trash cus he knows in a couple months he’ll be warding of cockroaches with a scimitar.
