We do a lot of early and late season skiing so I decided to make a windscreen to help block the cool air. I searched online for plexiglass and found a local plastic company close to me. I decided to go with a 3/16th thickness tinted piece. They will cut it any size, so I had them cut a 1 1/2 X 3 ft size which cost about $35. I made a template with some cardboard and tape and then traced it onto the plexiglass. I used my circular saw to cut it and a palm sander to smooth everything really good.

I wasn't sure what to use to mount it, but I didn't want to drill any holes. I wanted to be able to remove it if I didn't like it. I decided to try some kind of metal "U" shaped channel to slide it into. When I was getting the plexiglass I asked the guy if he had any recommendations and he said they had something that might work and brought out this thing I think he called a cap rail? made of like a heavy plastic. It is pretty thin but really strong. I figured for $3 i would give it a try. If it doesn't work I could get something stronger. I used some 3M double sided tape to mount the "rail". I was worried about having something stick too far out and people would bump it when going by it but i don't think it will be a problem. I guess we will see. I mounted it at a slight angle going backward so the plexiglass would go behind the windshield. My son made the logo out of vinyl and put it on. It fits pretty dang snug and doesn't move at all. Have not tried it out on the water yet but will update as soon as I do.

Scott, if you still have the sizes I can program the CNC to cut them out if others beside myself want one for the 2006-2012 LSV.

Patrick, when you say the size, do you mean the measurements? and what is CNC? I can get the measurements for you tonight no problem.

Correct size = measurements, then I can draw in CAD. A CNC is a computer controlled cutter. Think of a milling machine with a large flat bed and a hand router moving in XY and Z

Ok, here are the measurements, I hope this is what you need. Let me know if you have any questions. I would cut on the side of being a tiny bit big so you can trim/sand it down to fit.

From a quick glance I can get 9 or 11 out of a 4'X8' sheet of plastic. Let me call my sheet supplier and get in on order. David and I get the first 2 that means the others are up for grabs. Ill figure out cost later.

Wow that looks great. I will have to put one together for mine but much shorter.

That end cap material can be found at http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-plastic-trim/=oqxrhf
Check out the Style 2. If that doesn't do it mcmaster.com usally has something there you just have to look. 25ft. min but if you are making them for others that won't matter.

Patrick,

I'd be interested in one depending on cost. Please let me know and thanks for doing this.

Scott,

Looks great, nice work!

used it tonight up at the lake and it works great. No movement at all and no air coming through. It seals off really nice.

Scott, nice mod. What lake are you going to? How long are you still going to be heading out? I just winterized on Saturday. I hate this time of year.

We usually run up to Jordanelle since it is only 35 minutes from our house. It is definitely getting colder for sure. With a wetsuit it isn't too bad right now but I am getting close to breaking out the drysuit. With the drysuit we will ski into November especially if there is a day or two of nice weather. You definitely have the lake to yourself and nothing but smooth water. Fortunately I keep the boat in our garage which in heated so I don't have to winterize.

Looks great to me! Wonder how much different the 13 and 14's are ? guessing taller? I got the vinyl snap in one from the factory. Don't get me wrong, It works, but for the $130 I paid for it, its kind of cheap.

Scott we cut a groove in the sheet of material we used for the screen. I only have on with double sided tape fore now, but will be getting some 3M bumper take from the body shop.

Jake, I have the pattern for the 2006-2012 LSV. Would not want to attempt other boats without having access to the boat. I used Scotts design, but redrew about 3 times, mine and my CNC programers OCD can out.
