View Full Version : Another shout-out for Exile..mid summer makeover is complete!

It's my turn to sing Brian and Exile some praises!
I can't give Brian enough credit on this one. I've changed from the Hybrid over to 6 xm9's powered by the brand new Exile xm30.2 amps. These new amps are bad to the bone! The 30.2 is a Class D, CEA - 2006 Compliant, have a tiny footprint, and each comes with a birth Certificate certifying power ratings! I have 2 powering the tower and the 9's scream! This was a huge step for Exile, these two amps replaced the 2 Harpoons I had powering the Hybrid setup.
My makeover started when I found a crack in the front crossbar weld on my tower. I had to gut the tower completely for the machine shop to re-weld the aluminum. I had been wanting to PC the tower white since the day I bought the boat but never messes with it....now was the time. The machine shop did a great job on the repair weld, and they filled in all of the old holes from the Hybrid setup, but I knew I would regret if I didn't take the chance while it was off and get it PC'd. So a week later, tower is repaired, freshly white, and I have this stack of new Exile gear ready to be installed. It just made zero sense to me to hand those black speakers on my white tower...so out came the sand paper and tape...and a few days later I have 6 xm9's hanging anywhere I could find a place so they could cure for a few days.
We had an incident with one of the speakers on the first outing, which was a Wednesday. I called Brian from the cabin that night and let him know what the deal was and the next Wednesday a replacement showed up prior to me sending anything back...you just can not beat service like that!
We pounded the system for about 4 solid hours at the beach yesterday and the little 30.2s did not disappoint one bit! Brian and I have talked a little about a few more changes as things develop, but for now..here she is!

WOW! LOVE the white tower and white XM9s!
I'd get thrown off my lake with that set up!! Lake PoPo (aka Barney..aka johnny law.. aka randy in a bass boat with stupid flashing blue LED) gives me crap about wake, surfing, etc.. all i need is him working me over for loud stereo too!!
Great service from Exile again!

What'd it cost you to PC your tower? I have thought of doing this before on my white supra. Looks great on your boat and the system, well it speaks for itself. That's a lot of money invested in that boat, enjoy it!
Great job.

Thanks guys! I love that first picture. Its what I pictured the day I bought the boat, even colored the tower white in paint before buying it to get an idea of how it would look!
Tower and mirror arm cost $120 bucks for powder. The machine shop charged $80 to repair the weld and also weld up all of the holes from the hybrid.
The all white changed the whole feel of the boat. Sitting inside it now everything just feels so clean.

Whoa... unreal. I have 2.0 just about talked into the 9's. She needs to hear this (which I am sure none of us will have a choice) this weekend!
Matching white tower FTW!!!

I'll start listening for you when I turn onto HWY 19 this weekend. Regardless of how well they sound, it won't be as impressive as the white-out visual. Great job!

Into 2 ohm - 420x2
Into 4 ohm bridged - 840x1
Class D
> 85% Efficiency
Individual Birth Certificate for each:

Wow my email box filled up with questions about these amplifiers. Out of respect for the mod's I dont want to post up a big sales pitch email. I'll just say the XM line has been in the making for a long time. No Dusty is not a beta tester. That work occurred back in January in Australia. There are 4 models XM15.4, XM30.2, XM12.1 and Javelin. Models began shipping last week to retailers and will be on our site in the next week.
If you have questions.. I'll answer whatever you like. Just let me know. There are some installs starting to appear on the facebook page.
cheers,
-Brian

Great looking set up Dusty! Where did you get your flag mounts?
dusty2221
08-06-2013, 09:35 AM
Flag mounts are homebuilt. I purchased the clamps from diywake.com and the rest is made at home. I clamped the blank clamps on the tower and marked the angle for the pole mount. The part that holds the flag was a piece if solid 1.5" aluminum stock that we bored out to hold the 3/4" pole. My dad welded it to a piece of the aluminum stock and it got bolted to the clamp at the angle I marked out. The bolt that's hold it to the clamp is also a set screw that keeps the whole thing from trying to rotate. After getting it all welded it got powdered to blend in! I drilled and tapped the back side for a set screw to keep the poles from moving around.
They have been flying everytime we have been out at speeds up to 36 mph and have worked perfect!

Hey man, that doesn't look half bad. It's alright :p
JK, looks great in pics and even better in person. I only got to hear it with 4 9's due to the "incident" but it sounded good then. Bet it sounds great now.
The amps look to be a nice improvement. The footprint is WAY smaller than the previous line up and of course the class d efficiency is a nice addition. That's probably especially true in the Texas heat.
Aside from the Exile, that white toooowwerrrrrr is legit!! I want mine done bad. It updated the feel quite a bit and I still think its hard to beat the look of that particular 4 point tower.

Dusty, mike, Brian,

Dusty Boat is looking Sick, and to think you almost sold it Last year in the off season LOL. Now it looks like a whole new boat.
JM i have known about the amps for a good while, I almost put them all in my boat back in May but didnt want to redo my whole amp rack after i had just done it.
I might be running these next year if i sell the Mojo, time will tell.
I also didn't want to bring them up on the forum till the release was public because of all the responses and drama it can create. I wanted to wait and let Brian do the delivery lol.
These amps are pretty sweet and i think its a real big step in the right direction for Exile in the amp market especially for those running huge tower setups that demands a lot of power.
