There is some great innovation coming from Skier's Choice in 2014. My family was fortunate enough to be invited to the 2014 photo shoot and see, touch and drive some of what SC has in store for you all. Start saving your pennies, as I'm betting you're going to be impressed.

metalflake.. bout time :)

based on the tower being that close to the windshield, betting it's 20-21ft.
chrome rubrail
popup cleets
dash looks like the mojo. if it is based on that, I hope they finished the bench.
doesn't look like shane got his way on the tower crossbar

if it's mojo at 21ft, starting under 55 somewhat loaded will steal a lot of MB's traffic for sure.. question then will be what about the lsv?

Love the Metal Flake, and the Factory Black lettering, also think slightly smaller, i don't think SC is going to put 2 boats at the 21ft, they really don't want to mess with the LSV buyers.

wolfeman131
06-29-2013, 08:53 AM
Good guesses, but you're off a bit. The Nitro was in reference to the bass boats & metalflake, that's all. The name of the new boat isn't Nitro. There are better guesses out there regarding the name of the new boat.

What happens to the LSV? Well, that is the LSV! My bet is that it will be a long time before that mold gets retired. No authorization to release photos of the new boat yet.

Salyers
06-29-2013, 08:57 AM
I'm still not seeing why Drew or Mike would trade their 22' 6" boat with tons of freeboard for a 21-20ft boat. I know there has to be something more!

Subfloor Ramfill or Quickfill/Empty Ballast like the MB or Centurion maybe?
Some type of Surf system like Malibu, Tige, or nautique?

It's cool, but Mastercraft boats from the mid 90s had that color. Not exactly "new" in wake boats.

This should have been passed down from supra years ago, we had a thread on year almost 5 years ago really detailing this mod, but it's a tough one, not sure why it took so long.
I think 2006 supra 21v had then as I looked at one.

Needs to be more flush to the deck IMO.

Let me know if you do ever come up with something. Unless you are willing to do some pretty radical cuts and welding on that huge cross bar then the options are pretty limited.

Hey - Moomba had metal flake back in 2001. I've got the proof sitting in my driveway! Just wasn't quite as wild as it is today.

Can't wait to see more details on the 14's.

I suppose if it had accessible hard tanks with removable tops you could use those as a live well.... :p

I saw the video when it was posted today, as well. The X-46 is a beautiful boat, but I would love to have seen the goofy wave and another perspective of the wave. It looked like the swim platform may have been cutting into the wave a bit, and a from-the-boat view of both sides would have given a truer idea as to the "cleanliness" of the wave.

i took a mojo and shortened it by 10%
which would make it a 20'-2" boat.

here are specs i also completely made up (actually all based off real world specs and prices of Mojo and LSV averaged together and then multiplied by 90%)

Fictional specs from photoshop.
Length: 20'-2"
Weight: 3420 lbs
Ballast: 1000 lbs
Motor: Indmar 330hp V8
Street Price: $50,400

Nope negative ghost rider, thats a small compartment to put your wet suit, or heater shirts or gloves to warm them up. We have that on the Mojo but im not removing the entire rear seat to use it.

Its right above the V Drive so its really warm, would melt your ice even faster then your LSV cooler does LOL.

The new, three piece rear bench seats are great! The giant, bench seat on my Mojo is one of my least favorite things about the boat. Another is the sky pylon. Both have been addressed on the 2014.

A few other items that I disliked have also been taken care of. Some folks new to the Moomba franchise may not notice these items, but those of us that know the line will be very pleased!

Tomatoe tamatoe LOL.

Im a little concerned with that 3rd seat in the middle, hope it sticks better then the little seat over the battery compart ment. Several times when standing on that seat it shits off and down you go.

The back seat is my most hated thing, i like that my V drive cover is larger on the 13 then the 12, but if you have any seats out of place and step on that back seat from the sun deck it will slide and down you go..

I'm more interested in the revealing of this boat since it seems that in 13' aside from twin axle trailer the Mojo and LSV had same standard equipment and one would assume that trend will continue for the Mondo, LSV and Mojo.

As for the boat size. Generally speaking I'm pretty set on the 21 footers. Perfect size for my family.

I am with you Jason, no way would I got smaller than my LSV, in fact I want the next one to be at least 22 ft, hopefully closer to 24.

unofficially I think so. no official specs have been provided that I'm aware of but one of the first pics to be posted on Instagram led me to believe it will be smaller than 21.6. July 16th is the big day.

the new supra pic that just dropped may be the sexiest thing I've seen since last looking in the mirror!

it's gotta be bigger than the mojo or smaller than the lsv. looking at the pic, no way that has more room than the mojo, so I would bet the 20.5ft rumors are accurate.

with this last pic, looking at where the observer seat is, and where the tower is mounted in relation to back seat, no way its bigger than LSV. Agree with Sandm, 20.5 seems about right.

Got a couple sneak peaks at some pics yesterday. Same width/height and interior room as the Mojo but shorter. The boat is bad azz! Good use of space in the bow. I think I may be looking at an upgrade soon.
I also heard its quite a bit more nimble and sports car ish.

BTW if you guys are looking to custom order boats, seriously consider the LS3 option. I surfed Shane's Supra SC yesterday (another home run for SC but definitely out of my budget) and it was burley sounding. One sweet mofo.

As for the Mondo, its not there to complete with the LSV, the LSV is the 21.5 boat for Moomba, and the Mojo will still retian its listing as the Biggest boat in the Moomba Line.

The Mondo is aimed to compete with the Axis, and other simular sized boats in that class, its looking to give people who want a smaller footprint boat a Much bigger interior.

I spent the last 2 days on the all new 2014 Supra SC, its an all new boat, i wish i could say much more about it but i cant. I can say i have TONS of video on the surf wave, Goofy is so good Claudia said while she was surfing with in a minute. MALO we are Selling Bestia. Surfin teh Regular side is just as awesome and a few tricks they have in the pipe line they wont be released till later.

I will do a full review with pictures and video as soon as they do the release in a weekish...

I can say its the same interior as the SA, the bow is classic Supra smaller but deep. I really loved the SA last year when we were on it but it wasnt a good surf boat, this new SC is the exact same wake board wave, and way way better surf wave.

The wake board wave was so nice looking, i actually wake boarded behind the boat, i got pics to prove it LOL.

MSRP for base model will be in this order, low to high:

Outback V
Mondo
LSV
Mojo

load 'em up however you want and, sure, you might get a loaded Mondo priced higher than a base Mojo. Last year, the LSV was promoted at the Atlanta Boat show for $49,999. Work the numbers from there.

if the mondo really has a solid wave, at $46-48k base, somewhat optioned up at 53-54 could be a solid value. it's real competition will be the r-20 from tige and the a-20 from axis. looks like it'll be the standout winner :)

http://i530.photobucket.com/albums/dd344/wolfeman131/2014/mondo-1.jpg

The new 2014 Moomba Boats Mondo is just that, MONDO! This 20-foot 6-inch water sports tow boat is not big in price or stature, but it offers huge performance and monster comfort. The wakes behind this little behemoth benefit from 1300 lbs of ballast perfect for rocking a curl or launching off both sides. The rough water ride and handling of the Mondo dwarf all other 20-footers. And the "MONDO" vibe continues on the inside with room for 13 people and convenient storage for all of their stuff. The only areas the Moomba Mondo doesn't measure-up is its price and physical size. The Moomba Mondo is gigantic when you want it and tiny when you need it. The new Mondo is big on "no worries".

Value
The Moomba Mondo is not a value performance boat simply because the price is lower than the next water sports boat builder's. Moomba maximizes the value to you by providing increased benefits without necessarily increasing the cost of the boats. Moomba Boats takes great pride in providing reliable functional features designed to foster the "No Worries" lifestyle for you and your family no matter what your budget. There is no better example of that commitment than the new 2014 Moomba Mondo.

Size
At 20 feet 6 inches you would expect the Moomba Mondo to be all about its convenient size, but "20-footer" just begins to describe this wake boat. Don't get us wrong, this Moomba is easy on your tow vehicle weighing in at at 3800 lbs and fits nicely into a standard garage thanks to the new OZ HD tower, but its real value comes in the form of performance and comfort.

Performance
Wether you're into wake surfing, wakeboarding, knee boarding, slalom skiing or just cruising the lake the Moomba Mondo will come through big for you. You can fine tune the multi-discipline hull design for water conditions or wakes across the wake spectrum with the Multisport Wakeplate. Pull-up the new Swivle-head Pylon and the Mondo can accommodate a slalom set too. Set the perfect speed for your session with the new graphical Digital Cruise Pro II display. Fill the Gravity III-D Ballast to 1300 lbs or beyond as an upgradable quick-connect plumbed-in system. If you slide towards surfing take advantage of a Mondo curl unaffected by the swim platform with Surf+. If cruising is more your style, throttle the Indmar Assault 330feel the control of the rack and pinion steering commanding perfectly tuned under water gear. The Moomba Mondo will do it all and without leaving anyone at the dock.

Comfort
The sacrifice for a price-point 20-foot boat can be interior comfort, but the Mondo goes big in this area too. The Mondo will accommodate 13 people, but this Moomba is not just a people mover. You can relax "no worries" style in the Mondo. Deep seating throughout the boat makes the ride safe and supportive while allowing tons of room for gear in the non-skid lined storage areas. The fiberglass floor with snap-out carpet adds even more convenience. The wide hybrid bow gives you the seating space without the "me too" pickle fork design. The driver will enjoy a swivel seat with the Rise-R flip-up bolster for all sized captains. The Mondo interior design has a fresh sporty look that combines multiple textures and colors of high quality Spradling vinyl. The new 3-pice rear seat reveals a center step into the lounge covering conveniently located wet storage. Opt for the new Sundeck Walk Across with Nonskid and make the trip from the swim deck to the interior truly no worries.

Style
And since we all know having fun on the lake gets even better when we look good doing it, the Moomba Mondo was designed with a customizable fresh style inside and out. The Moomba Mondo sports a sleek profile that can be accentuated by new available gel coat and graphics. The new Torqued gel coat scheme with Rally graphics gives the Mondo a rally sport atitude. The classic gel coat with the new Distortion graphic gives the Mondo a distinct look of orderly chaos. Finish either of these configurations with the Chrome or new Black Chrome Moomba and you won't be able to take your eyes off of your Mondo. The Moomba Mondo interior follows the exterior with a sporty design that can be as unique as the owners themselves.

The next big thing in "no worries" wake boating is small. Visit your local Moomba Boats dealer and test drive the 2014 Mondo.

Both the LSV and Mondo are 13 (recommended) passenger boats. Technically this number is meaningless. It is based on how many people it can safely seat.

Boats over 20ft aren't even required to be rated this way. I think the stickers are to keep the NMMA happy.

I am guessing they were able to keep the passenger rating the same by having a wider bow.

stock ballast
I believe capacity is a NMMA formula based on gross weight of vessel, less factory ballast divided by some arbitrary avg weight per person. Has nothing to do with # of seats, configuration, etc.

I think Mondo, LSV and Mojo will get retractable pylon and a pylon will remain an option on the OBV as it was last yr.

wolfeman131

The changes to the Mojo are subtle, but very enticing. Included are the items that I've mentioned that I think will be on all/most 2014's - retractable pylon, new gel/decals, larger Oz tower (white option, too) w/ extra racks, new rear seat configuration, new dash/DCP display, new vinyl options, new bimini design and probably more that I'm forgetting.

below lsv as drew listed the hierarchy should put a basic boat under 50 as I read the msrp on the base lsv at 49,999.

Drew, did SC put the new dash in the LSV too?
Also how was the surf wake. What kind of weight did you guys have, the video surf wave in the video looks a little flat. I'm wondering what you found when playing around with it.

wolfeman131
07-17-2013, 11:07 AM
yes, that dash with bezels was in 2013 LSV and I'm sure the new DCP LCD will be in Mondo, LSV and Mojo.

I wasn't there for the video shoot, so I'm sure that surf wave can be improved :)

Wow. Looks fantastic. Love the interior upgrades. I liked the Mojo but was disappointed with the interior and I felt like the new LSV got a downgraded interior last year. This has snap out carpet, sharper vinyl, new dash, nonskid in the storage, walk through, pop up pylon, just a ton of killer upgrades. It now looks like a killer premium boat from the photos, not something that was kept plain on purpose to distinguish it from the premium Supra brand. As someone that had thought the Moomba brand was still great but had begun to get a little stale, I think this is fresh, aggressive and just what most will be looking for. If the Mojo had been Mondo-ized when I bought last year it would have been a tough package to resist. This looks like a home run and a great direction for Moomba. Great job Skiers, this is the kind of boat that would bring me back to Moomba.

What is Surf+? Saw it mentioned in the write-up. Is that just the name for the shaped surf platform? Or is it more?

I won't be to far from you in a couple of weeks. Got to go the in-laws south of Layfayette. You ever make it back this way?

Is the Mondo front AND rear hard tanks? I read somewhere about a plug n play option for more ballast. Plus the screen shows level indicators. Unable to do that with bags unless they are using timer guesstiments.

Unless this boat is replacing the Outback V or has something to create a surfing wave swichable side to side in seconds i don't see the point of adding another 20 footer to the lineup. Looks good tho

Jstinger, the Plug and play is just the bag system. It comes factory i think with 400s and you can upgrade them.
Ballast timers are just that, its a Timmer box they have been using a few years but now instead of it showing you a % number like it does on mine, its a bar graph.

papou i see the need for the Mondo in the 20ft boat segment.

Go look at a Mondo and an OBV next to each other and its very apparent why they can survive together.

Mondo has deeper seating, much wider interior. Also it has the wide body nose.

A lot of OBV owners are traditionlists and want that lower profile boat, smaller, and lighter for water skiing. Plus since SC is no longer doing DD boats the OBV is now the only real option water skiing.

Now if the Mondo blows away the OBV in sales then you might see the OBV drop off the list.

Who knows, you still might see it drop off, thats how the Mojo took the XLV spot.

The Mojo is only 3inches shorter on interior space then a XLV, but the compartments are deeper, and the interior is 2 inches wider.

Doesnt sound like a lot but spend a day in the Mojo, then the very next in an XLV and you will feel the difference.

Also want to see how much larger a Mojo is then an LSV sit them right next to each other and the Mojo is a lot bigger, even though its only 1 foot longer.

I suspect you would see all the same comparisons with Mondo and OBV except they really are the same length.

NateHaskovec

I thought about this too.

I think the look of a boat with a squared off or pickle fork styled bow is what most people want. It is what a wake boat "should" look like in many peoples eyes.

People are buying the AXIS A20 even though it is shaped like a doorstop. I think the OBV will be gone next year like the XLV disappeared a year after the Mojo.

2016 will likely bring a squared bow LSV if the Mondo is as big of a success as the Mojo has been.

i cant wait to get my feet into a mondo..they look sharp..one thing i dislike about my OB is how low it sits in the water..when i let my buddys drive and i take a dive in the water and he comes to get me and doesnt see the wave and the thing washes over the bow, it gets everything wet..thats why i only put my anchor and PFD in the bow area and personal stuff under the sun pads.

if i order a mondo im going to do the black/orange/ and...the gunmetal grey flake? with the black moomba letters.
im still on the border if the flake will go well with the black and orange. most of my friends with boats are rednecks or fishermen so i think they will be in shock if they saw the flake lol..i like it too haha

IMO this color scheme makes this one of the best looking wake boats from any company.

I'm actually kind of bummed I got a 2013 LSV. If I had know this was coming, I would have kept the XLV for another year...

I am starting to consider upgrading to a V-Drive; the family is expanding and my Outback DD is starting to feel limiting. Plus I would like to get into surfing. Slalom is my main love though, so this is a tough decision for me. I was considering an Outback V, then I saw the Mondo. Nice nice new boat! The press release claims it "can accommodate a slolom set." Wolfeman, did anyone ski behind it during the demo? I'm curious what everyone's thoughts are about the Mondo's performance as a ski boat. Is it really as crossover friendly as the Outback V?

The dealer in Knoxville has one on their lot. It's the blue, white and black one from some of the photos. It's loaded and its MSRP is right at 59K according to the salesman I talked to on the phone. So yeah, you got quoted MSRP which is expected since dealers don't have the boats yet.
