2013 LSV surf set up

Hey I was wondering if anyone has surfed the new LSV's yet , and whats the best setup with ballasts , wake plate and speed to run ?

start with:
1,100 in lockers (surf side full, off side 50% or less)
370 under seats (surf side full, off side empty)
bow tank full
IBS full
wakeplate 75% to 100% up
10.0-11.2 mph

as of right now im running. 1100 bag in port rear locker, front tank plus 650 ibs under bow seats. wakeplate in bow up-all the way, running about 10-10.5mph. have tried filling some weight in the opposite locker but it has a negative affect at this point due to my lakes shallowness. I do have more ballast bags on order that wakemakers is saying will ship out later this month to use when we go on vacation in july.

I too prefer it WITHOUT any weight in the opposite side.

I'm running:

1100 surf side rear locker
370 surf side under seats
370 in floor locker
650 in bow
Wake plate 75-100% up
Speed about 9.8

Rode e4 wave on Friday. His set up is spot on.
With extra 200 on surf side sun deck, 200 bow, 100+ surf side rear corner, 100+ on observer seat, 200 driving...
Gotta love movable ballast.

I PERSONALLY think the surf setup is different for the pre-2013 models. The freeboard is much higher. The seats are higher, the captain is higher, the gunnels are higher, etc. The point im making is the center of gravity is much taller on this boat so it LISTS side to side more readily/easily. Just being around for a while and seeing how this boat responds over the different years, this boat likes corner weight and nose weight. I weighted my boat with the 1000lb "L" shaped bag on the seats plus stock ballast plus ibs and you couldnt even stay in the wave.

Yes it should technically, but ultimately people are going to prefer there waves slightly different.

i don't agree with the amount of weight people are running <2K to 2.5K> and saying they are only going 9.5 to 10.5 because in my LSV you had to go 10.5 to 11.2 other wise you had a 4 foot wall behind the swim deck and while it had lots of power the pocket was short.

Some of this was also because i ran offset weight to keep the boat from rolling too fare.

I removed my cooler as well but found weighting that section was too much when i had a crew.

Once the boat rolls too fare the opposite side isn't in the water enough to allow the hull to do its job.
Its just as easy to over weight one side as it is to underweight it.

ultimately its what you prefer, but i highly encourage people to try each suggested setup and go with what you like the most.

I guess what im trying to say is that if we weighted your boat and my boat (13lsv) exactly the same ill bet your boat would have a better wave. The boat lists easier at the same amount of weight. So if I have 1000 lbs of fat sac trying to get my boat to list its going to list more than your boat and the curl on the wave is going to be more. I think this is why youre seeing people on here that run opposite side weight because on your boat 1000 lbs of fat sack drags the ass end AND causes the boat to list. On the 13, side weight reallllly causes the boat to list due to the higher center of gravity and doesnt really push the ass end down any farther. Thats why I was saying nose weight and corner weight are much more important on the 13 than on the 12 for example.

I have a 20113 LSV. We fill the side we surf on 100%, and the front tank to about 70% or so depending on the number of people in the boat (usually 3) The wake plate is in the middle position which in turn gives a very nice wake for surfing. Our speed is 10.4 MPH. My son likes a little faster, 10.8.

One more thing most don't think about is the weight of the fuel tank. Mine is usually near full.

sure thing, only weekdays off till vacation are june 25th and july 4th at this time, dont think i would even try to go out on the 4th unless you can be at my lake at 9am, otherwise I will be sitting poolside with a few cold ones close by.

I guarantee you will want more ballast once you start surfing it.

I started off pretty happy with the stock ballast. Then I toyed with my own redneck surf gate. Then I caved and went with 1100# in the v-drive locker attached to a 260# bag that came from the older LSV's under the seat.

It fits like a glove and the wave couldn't be much better.
