Is that $149 price correct? The website store shows it retail at $279...

Yes Sire, This is a correct price. $279 is a retail price but it goes on sale for $149 most of the time. I buy directly from the manufacturer since my ship all my LEDs (led strips, car lights etc etc) and give it to boating community LOL - I'm sure lots of vendor goign to KILL Me since I'm selling underwater light and drain plug lights at big discounts. Mostly non-profit.

20% off $149 .. Color: Blue Green or White (shipping would be paid by the buyer at USPS cost. NOT extra penny)

NOTE: I'm an IT guy and do this for FUN and staying in touch with boating community

OK, so 20% off $149 is $119.20, correct? And these simply screw into the drain plug for installation plus a splice into whatever lighting source you want to connect to?

sgoyal
06-14-2013, 09:56 AM
Installation instruction:

These are the same light being sold by boat lights for $149.-- you know what I talking about.

It got 380 LUMENS

To install:

Run the cable leads thru the garboard drain opening and screw the underwater boat light assembly into the existing garboard fitting. The Liquid Lite fitting is 1/2" NPT.

Connect the Liquid Lite cable to a 12 VDC on/off switch.

I've been told white is 810 lumens... since White is always brighter than other colors.

But I always say 380 White/Blue/Green (So I'm not wrong)

Also, Look at different version of Drain plug light I've put on the 1st page.. White is 800 and Blue is only 120 lumens.

I discovered on a '13 Mojo wiring harness (probably others too), they still have wires for the White Nav light as if it was on the starboard gunwale for old stab light pole. It was an easy light wiring for water lights IF you want them on with Tower light as to court or separate switch.

Hey sgoyal, what's the difference between what you've posted here for $120 vs what you have on ebay for $90?

$90 light got 120 lumens for Blue and 800 for White plus I got from different manufacturer. The main difference is that this is a new light in the market with 6 LED chips and Liquid Lite 6 LED is more popular (I'm doing special so everyone gets familiar with me, so I can expand things in the future - As Moomba board has been very supporting of my Speaker/cupholder/Subwoofer rings)

I will, but I really have no idea what the hell it is I'm buying. :)

I think it's a 6 LED, 380 lumen light that I'm screwing into the drain plug hole and tying into the courtesy lighting.

This would be a nice little addy to the boat, not sure how well it will look against my wake plate and FAE. Atleast the FAE is got the brushed SS finish, so it may reflect off that nicely. Who is going to be the guinea pig for those with FAE...

The light, I'm selling on Ebay are different kind and more affordable/cheaper version (lumens etc, gotta keep various version in stock). So, I put the pix to show that there's different version too. I apologize for confusing it (I should have been more clear) - But white light are very bright of ebay version and blue got 120 lumens.

But I've offered the group buy on $149 version (20% off ) - with Super BRIGHT light 380 Lumens - Blue/Green/white (I've told that White got 800 lumens)

Good point. I am also very interested to hear Drew's opinion. I really don't need underwater lighting as I never have the boat out after dark, but I still want to do it. This option seems like a great, cost-effective way of getting it done.

Wolfe do you have the single piston (whatever its called that raises the wakeplate up and down) or the dual. My concern is I have the single that's directly in front of the drain plug. Wondering if this would hinder the light output

wolfeman131
06-17-2013, 06:01 PM
yes, the 12 has a single, electric actuator for the wakeplate and I'm sure the wakeplate will interfere with the light casting downward, but I'm curious to see if the ease of installation offsets the reduced performance.

Isn't the stock drain plug a 1/2" nps thread? I know that the center drain is 1/2" npt, but I think the rear is straight since it seals with an o-ring. Not sure how good a tapered plug will seal in a straight thread.

Guys, My boat had drain plug but plastic one (non-moomba boat) So I went to academy sports in Snellville, GA (close to Drew I guess). I took plastic one out and put the Garboard Drain plug in it (took less than 10 mins to replace it).

I'm not sure which certain model got 1/2" NPT or 1/2" NPS. (hopefully, it would remove confusion about drain plug)

Cool. Exactly what I've been waiting to hear. (well, not exactly... I hoped that it would work) If it interferes with the wakeplate, I'm out. Plus, we don't really have a clear answer whether or not this even fits in a Moomba. I understand that this fits on a garboard 1/2" NPT, but that doesn't mean anything to me. All,

My apologies to sgoyal. He drove over to my side of town and met my wife with the light for me to test it out this weekend and I simply didn't get to it. We were dodging thundershowers and getting the house ready for July 4th guests. The light looks nice, but big. I'm hoping that it won't interfere with the wakeplate.

We're back to the lake on Wed and I will ensure some time to test it out. Stay tuned!

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make the light work. It appears to be well built, but it's big. As I attempted to screw it into the drain plug hole, the outer bezel hit the round part of the wakeplate hinge that runs along the length of the plate. I couldn't get the light to line up straight with the drain plug hole threads.

It's very close to working, but I was attempting this while floating in the lake with the boat on the lift, so couldn't see how to easily modify the hinge.

Take out your drain plug then take a square and measure perpendicular to the centre of the hole out the distance of the light. About 2" with the wake plate in up position to see how much clearance you have

Just dropped the boat off at the shop for its first service. I looked at the clearance and i dont think it will fit. drain hole is too close to plate.

I've another drain plug light that is half the size of this drain plug light. But I'm out of Blue and got only white in the stock. I'll check with Drew if he wants to test White.

i'm interested in a 6-LED liquid lite in green if you have one available for the group buy price. Could meet you around/on Lanier to pick up.

Currently working with Drew on the smaller version of the light. More update would come soon.

I feel like I've been in the "Goldylocks" fairy tail. No, no, no - Dusty didn't come visit me in GA.

I say that because the first light we tried was too big, the second was too small and the third seemed just about right.

I have some pics to post but my general impression is this: not as bright as some may like/want, but you can't beat the ease of installation. My kids thought it looked "way cool" sitting in the lift, and the pics don't show very well how it looked. The electric wakeplate actuator did split the beam.

I did notice some slight leakage, but I only hand tightened the light and didn't use any Teflon tape on the threads, so that may not be an issue for folks that do it right.

I worked with the manufacturer to design the light in a way that wakeplate is now NOT a hindrance during installation. As Drew mentioned, 3 LED drain plug light is very easy to install, fits well and is the solution for Moomba boats.

As everyone says pictures can't do the justice. So try it for yourself.
Since we had to settle for 3 LEDs to make up for the design, I'll bargain on the price as well if I can have good enough interest to place the minimum order to manufacture the light.

1PC 3 LED drain plug light - $70 plus shipping. (Hoping to get 10+ buyers to meet minimum cost requirements)

If you are looking for something you are better off starting your own new thread in the classifieds. Good luck!
